Includes tables and notes for the sections Swansea St. Thomas – Hereford and Branches, e.g. Moorhampton – Credenhill, Swansea, Pontardulais, Llandovery, Craven Arms and branches, Merthyr-Abergavenny, Nine Mile Point,- -Tredegar. 33pp. Rusty staples, covers slightly frayed. 641.  (North British Railway) Enamel Station nameboard: “Lindores”. Dark   blue lettering on white. 102” x 19”Lindores was on the south side of the    River Tay between Bridge of Earn and the Tay Bridge.  The station closed in February 1951 though the sign was still in situ when the line finally closed in 1963. Good condition for its age. (Please note that the sign is in Dundee and should be collected from there … or arrangements could be made to have it delivered at cost.)

 

642.  Carriage Print: “Bamburgh, Northumberland” by Jack Merriott. A lovely   view looking over cornfields towards the village, dominated by the impressive castle with the sea in the background.  From the LNER series. Original type glazed frame and in excellent condition.

683.  Coloured Plan: “London and Tilbury Railway Plan of Dagenham (Thames) Dock.”  Also shows track, warehouse, etc. Very early and in excellent condition. Shows proposed Dock Station 10½ x 16½”

684.  Worksplate “Avonside Engine Co. Ltd.” Built 1919, Engine No. 1833, Bristol” New to S. Pearson, Sunbury Reservoir, then to Askern Coal & Iron Co. Ltd., Askern Main Colliery, Doncaster.  The loco was named Littleton; withdrawn from Askern and scrapped in 1960’s. Oval brass 10¾” x 6 ½”. Unrestored.

696.  Album of photos (150 in all) taken 1953-55.  All over the system but quite a few around Leicester.  Interesting shots include 60051 at Leicester G.C. Shed, 60054 under the hoist at Leicester G.F. A3 at Whetstone, 45712 at Carlisle with totem sign on pillar.  All are held in by corners.  Reasonable quality.

Ormsby Gore, M.P.”, showing the railway drawn in ink on the map which was “Published at the Tower of London,  1st January 1833 by Lieut. Colonel   Colby of the Royal Engineers.” Also shows the Shrewsbury & Hereford in red ink.  Opens out to 58” x 25”. Cover detached but still present. Map is in   good condition.

Earley of an Inspector in front of Thundersley at Southend and at Bishopsgate, with a letter from M.W. Earley concerning the photos.  An interesting lot.

800.  Smokebox Numberplate 5318 ex mogul 2-6-0 built Swindon July 1917. Allocated new to Wolverhampton, ending its G.W.R. days at Laira. In the 1950’s it alternated between Ebbw Junction and Pontypool Road spending a few months at Tyseley in 1959. Withdrawn September 1961. Cut up Swindon the following month. Totally ex loco condition.
