    220.  B.R. (M) Motor Parade Winner. Enamelled award badge 1959. Red       enamel and chrome raised St. Christopher “button” in centre. 2⅓”; nicely mounted on mahogany block.

231.    Fireman’s shovel stamped B.R.M. E & W Lucas. Excellent condition. Will  give many years service. 43½” tall.

243.    Carriage Print: “The Lomond Hills from Tarvit, near Cupar, Fife.” by J. McIntosh Patrick. Seagulls follow a tractor ploughing a field with hills in the background.  This is the larger LMR size and is in original type glazed frame. Excellent condition.

 

244.     Carriage Print:The River Tweed and Neidpath Castle, Peeblesshire” by Jack Merriott. Nice sunlit autumnal view by the artist. Larger LMR size in original type glazed frame and in excellent condition.

263.    L.M.S. Track Diagram: Chatterley – Stoke Jc.  Lots of detail.  Shows    Stoke Station – Loco sheds, roundhouse, colliery, wagon sidings, etc.   Shows method of working of lines – staff & ticket, tablet, blocks, etc.,   dated 20th May 1927. Folds out to 32” x 6”

 

264.    B.R. Brass Lion Holding Wheel Cap Badge. (Good condition.), together with LMS Service Badge.

 

265.    Caledonian Railway: Membership Wallet for the “Glasgow Central Station Servants Refreshment Club 1906.” It was not a staff canteen but an employees club (subscription 3d), open to employees with the object of supplying cheap refreshments.  Maroon cloth backed card with      “Caledonian Railway”, a Rampant Lion and Title in gilt; somewhat rubbed,  with the constitution of club and owners details inside. 2” x 3¼”.

266.    “Nottingham and Grantham Railway and Canal.” Hand-written note on headed paper from the Secretary of the Company.

267.    G.W.R. engraved Pre-Grouping rectangular lever lead: “20 Disc for No. 19 Points backing from up relief.”  Good condition, with black wax infill. As often the case on GWR, there is another crossed out inscription on the   back, this being “19 Up Siding to No. 1. Dead End siding starting”.  Rectangular; 5¼” x 4”

 

268.    Plan. “Angel Road”. Shows track, platforms, goods shed, etc. Not     coloured in – stamped “Great Eastern Railway Land Agents Office January 31st 1918”; on thin paper 21” x 22”; folded.

276.    BR(W) Royal Train Notice: Paddington to Milford Haven 2/3rd November   1960 and standby return 3rd November.  Gives detailed passing times and instructions.  An added note inside notes the engines involved: 5067 St. Fagan’s Castle and 7037 Swindon. 19 pp.

 

277.    Poster: B.R. (E). Avocets and Ringed Plover, Havergate Island,  Suffolk.  Image by Talbot Kelly.  Generally good; a few small edge fold  tear repairs.  Has been folded at some time. 40” x 25”.

278.    Enamel Armband. “L.N.E.R. (in “Winking Eye”) No. 833 Porter” Black   lettering on white, complete with leather straps and buckle. Excellent  condition.

281.    Builders Plate: “B.R. Swindon Lot No. 30415 1958” ex d.m.u. 59391 –    59400. Unrestored, oval cast-iron.

 

282.    Signalbox Diagram: Buxted (No. 1113). An office copy dated 13th      October 1941. Folded, 29” x 15”

 

283.    Midland Railway: Book of Gradient Sections. Backed in dark green leather with full Company Coat of Arms surmounted by a Wyvern in gold tooling. Inside there are 17 pull-out diagrams of all M.R. branches and lines. On front endpapers there is an M.R. stamp dated 17th June 1912 and also a North British       stamp and a note that it was received June 1912. Lovely item.

 

284.    G.W.R. Bute Docks (Cardiff) Directions and Dock Entrance Signals.  A fascinating booklet dated January 1939 containing the Dockmaster’s     directions to be observed by persons in charge of vessels.  At the back of    the book there are 7 pages with coloured pictures of the flags, lights and signals, acting as entrance signals for Bute (West, East and Roath Docks) and Queen Alexandra Dock, both by day and by night 17pp + 7 pp of coloured         signals. Very interesting.

 

285.    Negatives: 6 x 35mm of Exmouth line Exton and Topsham 1961. 2 0f       82XXX bunker first at Topsham, 2 general shots of Exton station, 1           s     showing totem in situ and 1 of 32010 on passenger, 1 of Topsham level   crossing opening with train departing towards Exeter. Good.

 

286.    Negatives: 4 of Polsloe Bridge Halt (3 with passenger trains 82013 and   41308. Very good period detail showing target signs, etc., and 2 at     Topsham, including 82010 and 41318. Good.

287.    G.W.R. Working of Guards and Coaches on the main line, and local and branch trains in the Plymouth Division, May and June 1905; gives names of guards to work specific trains, working of rail motor cars;  lots of information. 37pp.

288.    Negatives: 4 x 35mm shots of un-rebuilt Battle of Britain 34069,        Hawkinge approaching and crossing Pinhoe level crossing and 2 shots of 80040     crossing Polsloe Bridge, Exeter (6)

 

289.    Negatives: 8 Cheddar Valley Line. Includes 1 of Wells Station, 1 Cheddar, 2 at Witham, including a D63XXX on passenger, and 4 at Yatton. Locos include 2268 and 82037. Negs measure 3¼” x 2¼”.

 

290.    (G.W.R.) cast-iron notice:  “Caution. Do not look over or pass along the side of this cab when near bridges, tunnels, load-gauges or coal stages. January 1909.” Face repainted a long time ago; the back ex loco condition.

 

291.    B.R. (W) Barry Works. Piecework order sheets for repairs to ex TVR absorbed tank engines.  Lists the engine numbers and lists parts, etc. 10 locos detailed. 1954/55

 

292.    B.R. (W) Barry Works. Piecework order sheets as above for 14XX locos, together with 1102 and 1144. (8 locos)

 

293.    B.R. (W) Locomotive Depot Plan. Abercynon (Cardiff Valleys Div.) Hand coloured and detailed, showing all track, buildings, etc. Comes with a typewritten (on G.W.R. watermarked paper) description of procedure of   locos entering depot and its facilities, together with lists of staff – for example 62 drivers, 59 firemen, 15 fitters, etc. 1949. Plan measures 20” x    8”

 

294.    B.R. (S) Enamel Station Sign: “Waiting & Ladies Room” on 3 lines. Excellent colour and shine. Good condition. 24” x 18”

 

295.    L.N.E.R. (N.E. area) Excursion and Special Train Arrangements:  

4th – 10th October 1935. Gives time of specials – e.g. Sunderland to Tyne Dock shed – Empty Rail Motor, special express Durham – Ulverston over Stainmore. Rail motors to be steam trains – Sunderland to Puttington etc.

296.    B.R. (E.) Track plan. Huntingdon – Godmanchester.  Alterations consequent on closing of line from St. Ives to Kettering dated 4.11.59. Shows track and signs to be removed and turntable and shed at  Huntingdon East. Shows junction with E.C.M.L. Ink on grey vellum. Rolled, 53” x 20”

306.    Plan: “G.N.R. Louth”.  This uncoloured plan shows GNR Mission Hall on Ramsgate and adjacent track.   It does not show the station.  On paper, folded and somewhat creased around edges. 17” x 17”.

 

307.    L.M.S. S & T Diagrams: Air Raid Precaution Hood for Upper Quadrant  Signal Arm on Tubular Post. Dated 11.4.41 15” x 13”, together with  diagram of LMS electrically illuminated signal indicator – stencil type    (cast-iron case) dated 19-12-39. (2)

389.     G.N.R. Viaduct Plate: “G.N.R. 8” B19 casting. Double border with prominent notched corners; painted a long time ago over original paint.  Would make a distinctive house number.

 

390.     G.N.R. Beware of Trains”. With notched corners. Fine, ex lineside condition.  Unlike the majority of these signs, the Company initials are complete and undamaged. O.18 casting No. 21” x 13¾”

 

391.     Signal Box Diagram: “Robertstown Crossing” an ex G.W.R. box between Aberdare North/Cresselly Crossing and Gelli Tawr Jct.  This is an office  copy of the G.W.R. diagram dated 20.7.37 and has the B.R. (W) S & T stamp dated 18th  August 1965.  Rolled; 34” x 11”
