434.        (L.M.S./L.N.W.) Small cast-iron sign.  “Not Fit for Drinking” from carriage sheds at Holyhead. 4” x 7¼”. Similar to the above but on two lines and four fixing holes.

435.        (L.M.S. /L.N.W.) Cast-iron sign. “Drinking Water” (on two lines. Same pattern as above signs. From Bangor Station.

436.        Letter head “London and North Western Railway Chemical Laboratory, Locomotive Dept. Crewe” (all printed) concerning polishing Rail Sections for Sulphur Prints. 7.2.1916.

437.        Map. Thew & Son’s map of King’s Lynn 1881. Apart from the streets and words of the town, it shows track, signal boxes, gate houses, etc., together with proposed extension of Lynn & Fakenham Railway.  Folds out to 34½”x27”. White board covers stamped “Chief Traffic Manager’s Office, King’s Cross, G.N.R.”. Generally good for its age.

438.        Brass pear-shaped paycheck. “G.W.R. Loco W’hampton” (all embossed). Good condition. No number stamped so possibly not issued.

439.        Brass paycheck, fully worded “Great Western Railway, Swindon” (embossed) and stamped “5608”. Probably pre-grouping. Rare.

440.        L.B. & S.C.R. Appendix to the Service Time Table & Rulebook August 1922.  Green covers, 279 pp + index. Lot of information for working branches and lines. Good.

442.        B.R (S) Brass key token Medstead-Alresford, a Hampshire Section of the ex L.S.W.R. opened in 1865.

443.        Highland Section Track/Station Diagram. “Helmsdale”. Shows South and North Signal Cabins, loading banks with measurements, weighbridge, etc. Ink on grey vellum. Probably L.M.S. 8” x 13”.

444.        Carriage Print “Anstey, Hertfordshire” by Gyrth Russell. A very attractive view of the village with red tiled cottages surrounding the medieval church. Original type frame and glazed. In mint condition.

445.        Carriage Print “King’s Lynn, Norfolk” by Gyrth Russell. A sunlit view of the Georgian Custom House with old maltings in the background, boats in the foreground. Original type frame and glazed. Excellent condition.

446.        Carriage Print “Brig o’ Balgownie near Aberdeen” by Edward Lawson. Tranquil view of the River Dee with the grand bridge in the background and a girl walking up the path to the road. B.R(E) size, framed and in mint cond.

453.        London & Blackwall Railway. An Act to authorize the L & B to enlarge certain of their Stations and Works, and for other purposes. 15 pp. 1864. G.

454.        London & Blackwall & Millwall Extension Railway. Notice to Owners in this case The Board of Works for the Limehouse District with details of their properties filled in in ink. 1865. Good condition.

455.        Builders Plate “M. Ry. & Co., Builders, Derby 1909” oval, cast-iron 4” x 5”. Off a coach or wagon. Unrestored.

461.        Map. Cruchley’s map of Nottingham showing all the railways and names of stations. Not many lines in the country, Mansfield still a terminus so probably 1860’s. Opens out to 22” x 20”. Thumbnail size loss from bottom margin – not affecting map; otherwise good condition.

496.        Liskeard & Looe Union Canal Company. Accounts required by Regulation of the Railways Act. Dated January 1883. 4 pp. Printed by H. Deecker, Fore St., Liskeard. Fragile and repaired by tape but very little is seen from this Company.

497.        B.R. (S) London (Central District Hours of Opening of Signalboxes. Includes certain boxes in other regions. 11th September 1961 u.f.n. 26pp. G.

498.        Brass wax seal stamp. L.M.S. Methven. Circular brass head turned wooden handle. Nice original condition. Methven was the terminus of a short branch off the Perth-Crieff line.

538.        Shedcode 15A. Wellingborough 1948-September 1963. Leicester Midland September 1963 – June 1966. Totally ex loco, front and back, with thick old paint. L.M.S. style lettering.

539.        Carriage Print. “The Three Sisters, Pass of Glencoe, Argyll” by Frank Sherwin.  This is in the larger B.R. (M) format which tends to give more perspective than the B.R. (E) versions of the same prints.  A fine view with a shepherd and his dog in the foreground with the mountains in the background. Virtually mint in original type frame.

540.        Carriage Print. “Boston, Lincolnshire” by Freda Marston. A particularly fine picture of riverside houses and Victorian warehouses with the famous Boston “Stump” dominating the background. In mint condition.

541.        Carriage Print. “Temple Bar, Cheshunt, Hertfordshire” by Claude Muncaster.  The old Georgian landmark now standing in wooded parkland. Original type frame and glazed and in mint condition.

Red lettering on white. Chipping around the edges, which has been touched in but lettering unaffected. 9¼” x 13¼”.
