222.        Bristol/British Road Services Lorry Builders chassis plate. Brass plate embossed “Bristol Commercial Vehicles Ltd., Bath Road, Brislington, Bristol 4.” With details of engine (No. 1106) chassis (No. 154.067), wheelbase 16 ft.  Above these are the “Bristol” logo and at the top the B.R.S. Lion holding a lorry wheel.

224.        Cast Brass Plate embossed “Pooley & Son, Liverpool N.E.R. 1334” from weighing machine. Curved to fit a column.  Quite chunky. Earlier than the later pressed examples. Unrestored.  3½” x 2”

245.        Carriage Print. “Hatfield, Hertfordshire” by Horace Wright from the L.N.E.R. Series. Not a car in sight in this rustic view of the town – only a gentleman with a handcart. Original type frame and glazed, Very good condition.

246.        Carriage Print. “Castle of Broughty, Broughty Ferry, Angus.” Pleasant view looking across harbour to the tall castle buildings. Unframed V.G.C. This is the larger B.R. (M) size.

247.        Carriage Print. “Wallace Monument near Stirling” by Jack Merriott. The Gothic tower stands high above the stooks of corn in the fields below. Larger B.R. (M) size. Unframed. Very good condition.

248.        Carriage Print. “Ben Loyal, Sutherland” by W. Douglas Macleod. The mountain casts a reflection in the loch and in the foreground. B.R. (E) size. Very good condition. .Original type frame and glazed.

It’s quicker by Underground.” Printed by Waterlows, probably c. 1960. Thick card. 11” x 24”. Slight rubbing towards the top edge, otherwise good.

294.        (M.R. Co.) Tunnel nameplate. “Tytherington Tunnel” All cast-iron – not like some which have steel letters affixed to a backplate. Situated on the ex M.R. Thornbury Branch north of Bristol.

295.        B.R. (S) enamel station sign (flanged). “Waiting and Ladies Rooms”. On 3 lines. Superb condition, almost mint. White on green. 18” x 24”.

296.        B.R. (W) Diagram of Aberbeeg shed. Very detailed, showing all track (coloured blue), water tank with capacity, water cranes, location of stores, workshop, hydrants, etc. Accompanying B.R. (W) notes give allocation of locos by type, staff numbers – 71 drivers, 73 firemen, 370 tons of coal p/w and 7 wagons of ash. Very detailed. Plan measures 8” x 21”.

297.        Report to the Ministry of Transport upon the “Accidents that have occurred on the railways of the U.K. during 1920.” 12 pp. Analysis of accidents.

298.        S & T Diagram L.N.E.R. “Holmwood Colliery. Proposed up goods loop.” L.N.E.R. S&T stamp. 17.7.42. On G.C.R. main line Pilsley and Heath. 14” x 38”. Folded.

299.        “L.N.E.R.” large tray or roast meat serving dish. Oval, 13½” x 18” in very good condition, with attractive crossed “Saltire” pattern on edge. Ideal for Christmas turkey.

300.        B.R. (W) Shed Diagram. “Llanelly”. Very detailed diagram of the double roundhouse shed lines in blue watercolour. Shows sand furnace, cranes, standpipes, lifting shop, stores, loco oil fuelling plant, etc. Accompanying notes give allocation by types: 149 drivers. A mass of information. Very interesting.  8” x 24”.

301.        Unusual enamelled badge. Shield shaped, lapel fixing. Lettered “11 Congreso International de Ferrocarriles” around edge with raised front of steam loco in centre, engraved on buffer beam 1930. 1” x  ¾”

302.        L.N.E.R. (N.E. area) Programme showing alternative Electric Train Services on the Tynemouth Branches.  Sundays from 2 June 1935 u.f.n.     36 pp

303.        Engraved brass lever lead. “20 Disc for No. 19 Points Backing from Up Relief with original black wax infill. On the back is “19 Up Siding To No. 1 Dead End Siding Starting” which has been scored through.  No fixing holes, but very old, possible ex. M.R. origin. 4” x 5¼”

304.        Fully Coloured Plan G.N.R. Hertford – Hertford Gas Light Co. – Mr. H. D. Duesbury’s Application. Shows station, goods shed area across river bridges to the signal and gate box on Mill Road.  Also shows detailed sections across the bridge over the River Lea. On thick paper 16½” x 58½”. Folded.

305.        B.R. (E) Diagram of Signals Offord & Buckden Drawing No. 47 LS 1003. Shows track between Huntingdon North & Paxton c.1960

306.        Brass checks (i) ¾” x 2”. Rectangular with round corners, stamped G.W.R. 5 times on front and 3 times on back with “170” also stamped. Very old. Came out of Newport Docks. (ii) 1” x 2¼” rounded ends just stamped “622”. Again very old. Came from same source.

Notice to Staff – Tobacco Smoking at Engine Sheds – prohibition of tobacco smoking in this shed is now removed except in the Offices, stores and other buildings – containing inflammable material – I trust the staff will not abuse this privilege in any way. F. W. Dingley, 21st November 1923. 8½” x 10½”.  Would frame.

367.        (Highland Railway?) Cast brass lever lead. Distinctive shape. “44” in a round panel curved shoulder then straight sides embossed with 12 lever numbers. Ex Perth North signal box. 8¼” high.

376.        Peckett & Sons Copper Printing Block. Depicts 0-4-0 saddle tank No. 1853. A nice detailed depiction of the loco, showing worksplate, etc. Mounted on its original mahogany block. Measures 2¼” x 4¼” Good cond.

377.        Negatives of GN/LNW Joint Line Great Dalby – 4 negatives including Austerity light engine and Mablethorpe special – good detail of station including “hawkeye”, John O’Gaunt – 2 giving good detail of lamps and signs. Melton Mowbray (GN/LNW) showing ornate roof and “hawkseye”, and 46666 and 430111 at Tilton 5/12/1953. Quite good quality. (8)
