  13. “L.N.E.R.” barrel nickel whistle by Acme, stamped with Co. initials just above mouthpiece. This type was usually used by the police.
  14. B.R. (S) Dist Traffic Circular No. 54. Concerning Engine Head Signals on 4.58 pm “Golden Arrow” Dover Marine to Victoria and 6.10 p.m. Dover Marine to Victoria; with diagrams of the placing of the “white” reporting discs on front of locos. 27.3.1953. One sheet.

  20. B.R. (M) “Midland Pullman” promotional booklet, gold cover with coat of arms (Manchester & Pullman) and B.R. totem. 12 pp including photos. Colourful route map. Brief history of Manchester – St. Pancras line, V.G.C., together with Compliments Slip of Divisional Traffic Manager.
  21. Great Central Railway pint beer tankard. Silverplated by Walker & Hall. Very handsome with ornate handle, pinched waist style. The side has the large G.C.R. garter crest with “Y.G.” in middle.  Very minor dents; otherwise good, original condition. The Yarborough Hotel Grimsby was owned by G.C.R.

  23. (L.C.D.R.) Mahogany Signalbox Instrument. Sykes Lock & Block with circular brass edged display with original inscription “17 to Kearsney Loop Jnc.” 14” high. In excellent condition.
  24. Railway Map of England and Wales by W. & A. K. Johnston. Also showing canals. N.d. Shows 47 Pre-Group Railway Companies; includes insets for major industrial areas. Red boards. Opens out to 51½” x 44”. Good cond.
  25. Midland Railway Enamel Fire Bucket Notice. Company title in red. Most other lettering in blue.  Dated Derby Jan. 1909. Much better condition than average; only the bottom bit of the ‘E’ of “Derby” is affected. Came from Herefordshire.

  13. G.W.R. Royal Wedding at Evesham. Special Train and other Arrangements Nov. 15/16th 1907. 4pp. Includes sections on strengthening of trains. Gives passing times, with attached note to signalman at Adlestrop stating that R.T. notice will be delivered by special messenger by 10.20 a.m. train, etc. Folds.

(in full) Smoke Nuisance at Kenton – householders at Kenton are complaining of emission of dense smoke by Engines …. drivers must not fire engines when passing through station.      1st June 1923, together with three typed loco depot notices concerning experimental fittings and motions of engines.
  8. B.R. (W) alloy key token. “Copplestone – Morchard Road from ex L.S.W.R. Exeter – Barnstaple line. Red. Traces of original red paint.
  9. L.N.E.R. (S) Signalling Instruction No. 2882 c.l.s. between Billericay and Wickford. 10th May 1938 with pull-out diagram.
  10. Stratford upon Avon, Towcester and Midland Junction Railway. Printed letter dated 7th October 1886 stating that the Company had relinquished its offices at Great Winchester St., and that communications should be addressed to C. J. Fletcher, Co. Secretary. Also states that the Bill seeking financial power to build line from Towcester to Olney had passed through Lords.

  16. Carriage Print. “Loch Morar, Inverness-shire” by W. Douglas Macleod (larger LMS size) Colourful view of mountain, moor and loch. In original type frame and in excellent condition.
  17. Carriage Print. “The Three Sisters, Pass of Glencoe, Argyll.” by Frank Sherwin. (This is the large LMS or BR (M) size.) The dramatic mountains tower above the valley bottom, with a shepherd and his dog keeping an eye on their flock. In original type frame and in excellent condition.
  18. Carriage Print. “Braemar Castle, Aberdeenshire” by Edward Lawson (larger LMS/BR (M) size). Tranquil view looking through trees on river bank towards the old castle. In original type frame and in excellent cond.
  19. (Caledonian Railway) Enamel Sign. “Please do not Spit” made by Falkirk Iron Co. White lettering on dark blue, with white inside border. Some large edge and hole chips but lettering hardly affected. From Crieff. 4” x 24”.

  22. B.R. (W) Service Time Tables. Plymouth to and from Ashburton Junc. & Penzance 27th Sept. 1948 u.f.n. 159 pp. Map on front cover. G.
  23. Miniature 2 levers in frame ex S.R. probably from Waterloo or Holborn Viaduct. Original chrome tops and original red and white paint on lower section of levers. Levers approx. 5”. Manageable and presentable.
  24. The Eastern Counties and London and Blackwall Railway Companies – London Tilbury and Southend Extension Railway. (all printed) Notice of Lands Required with enclosed map – relating to Horndon on the Hill. The map is titled L.T.S. Extension Railway (in full) 1852 and document signed by Company Secretary. Good condition.
  25. L.M.S. Promotional Pamphlet.  The Lancashire Coast by L.M.S. with upper quadrant signals on covers set against a green background. Many photographs inside of Southport, Lytham, Blackpool.

  6. Carriage Print. “Kelso, Roxburghshire” by S. R. Badmin. Looking northwards with the famous bridge over the Tweed in the foreground with old lorries going over it, including “S.R. Badmin’s Giant Circus.” The ancient abbey and town in background. Tremendous detail. Unframed and in mint condition. LNER series.
  7. Carriage Print. “Newark Castle” by Kenneth Steel. The ancient red sandstone ruins rise up dramatically above the banks of the Trent in the foreground. Original type frame. Excellent condition.
  8. Carriage Print. Dunottar Castle. Kincardineshire. Evening sunshine and shadow lend a dramatic and menacing air to the castle on the cliffs. Unframed and in mint condition. LNER series.
  9. (Caledonian Railway) enamel Signalbox nameboard. “Crieff” white lettering on dark blue 8½” x 24”. Edge chipping but title unblemished. Loss of enamel on r.h. edge suggests that the sign was shortened by B.R. from Crieff East box.  As removed by vendor on closure of line in mid 1960’s.

  23. G.W.R. Aldermaston Rescue Training Sheets. Methods of lifting, carrying, dragging and lowering persons. 4 pp. + 2 large fold-out diagrams each having GWR Rescue Training Sheet C.E.O. Aldermaston printed at bottom. These measure 27” x 19”. Many diagrams of Fireman’s Lift, dragging down stairs, dropping from an upstairs window, etc. Interesting.
  24. An S.E.C.R. Sykes lock and block signal box instrument complete with all brass fittings the circular dial marked 32,37W 28:22. Nor to “A” Box from Forest Hill.” From Crystal Palace, together with its attached large brass post and finial and home signal. Very good condition, complete with its cast brass Sykes maker’s plate.
