1.              Taff Vale Railway cast-iron boundary post. Half round tapered shank, with oblong panel on top with “T.V.R.” embossed. 5¼” wide at top, 38¼” long. Unrestored condition.

2.              G.W.R. card menu. Colour picture of Falmouth (Promenade); advert. on back for holiday runabout ticket No. 2 for Bodmin, Fowey, Truro, Newquay. 6” x 9⅝”

3.              Shedplate 6C. Birkenhead 1950-63, Croes Newydd 1963-67. Small chip in border, with original paint. G.C.

4.              Great Northern & London & North Western Railways. Melton Mowbray.” card wagon label for Cheese.  Unused. 4¼” x 2¾”. Black print. V64. 2,500–12-07 in small letters top left. G.C.

5.              G.W.R. Hotels C.o.A silverplated one pint teapot G.W.R. full crest on side. 4.11/16th” dia. at base, 4⅝” high and finial, by Martin Hall & Co. Good used condition.

6.              Barry Railway Rule Book dated Jan. 1916 with 16 pages alterations and additions dated June 1916. This section is a little grubby and some loose pages.  No loss, otherwise G.

7.              Great Eastern Railway Timetable. January 15th 1917 u.f.n.  136 pp fold-out map at rear; dark blue cover with picture of G.E.R. 4-4-0 and red/white flag with blue shield with 3 gold crowns on; advert. on back for Continent via Harwich.  Small piece of cover (right corner) missing (1½” x ⅜”), otherwise G.

8.              Enamel Sign “Canadian Pacific Railway & Steamship Lines. Book Tickets Here” Double sided, blue background, white letters, 16” x 10”, 4 fixing holes on folded edge. One chip affecting the 2nd ‘N’ in Canadian. Some edge chips, otherwise G.

9.              Builders Plate. “Built 1957 Crewe” oval cast-iron 10.3/16” x 5.13/16”. Repainted in silver a long time ago.

10.           L.N.E.R. Folding Card Menu. Colour picture of Edinburgh Castle on front cover. Map of LNER system and list of hotels on back.  Contains Wine List and First Day Menu.

11.           B.R. (M) Ticket to Witness Departure of Royal Train from Euston 19th May 1954. 4” x 3¼” Pink card. B.R. totem logo at top. Envelope.

12.           Wagon Repair Plate. By C.W.W.  T.V.R. 12766. 11.1936. 4¾” x 3¾”. Unusually cast brass. Unrestored.

13.           L.M.S. Hotels copper saucepan.  6⅛” dia., 6¼” high. “L.M.S. Hotels” incised on side. Some signs of use; sides lightly polished G.

14.           Rule Book. London Electric Railway – and Central London Railway – and City and south London Railway. Dated Aug. 1914. Green covers with three companies’ names incised. V.G.C.

15.           “D” Wagonplate. G.W.R. 10 tons 80232. 10⅞” x 6½”. Face painted a long time ago.

16.           B.T. Hotels Turnberry Golf Course Score Card; Arran Course BTH 37533/2.  6” x 5”. G.

18.           Southern Railway & Chemin de Fer de l’Etat Joint book mark.  All in French. Picture of Guardsman on front in colour. Advert. in back for Paris-Dieppe-Newhaven – London.

19.           G.E.R. “T” carriage key. G.E.R. stamped on shaft. 3⅝” long.  Good used condition.

20.           L.N.E.R. round, bright metal, waiter’s tray. LNER in script initials in centre. 12⅜” dia. Good used condition.

21.           Great Central Railway Rule Book dated 1st Nov., 1897. Red covers with G.C.R. crest incised. G.

22.           Great North of Scotland Railway. Cruden Bay Hotel Port Erroll Hotel letter dated Aug., 1908. G.N.S.R. CoA with name in full in oval garter.  5¼” x 8⅛” G.

23.           G.W.R. cast-iron carriage ash tray. Tip-up type, “G.W.R.” cast into front.           3¾” long, 2” high, 2½” wide. Unrestored.

24.           L.M.S. Booklet.  Tours in Lakeland - July 3rd to Sept. 24th 1939 ERO 53237.  62pp. Map of Lake District on pp. 2 – 3. Advert. for Lake Side Refreshment Pavilion owned and run by the L.M.S.R.  Red covers with L.M.S. crest.  G.

37.           Brass Cash Bag Label engraved “N.E.R. Gristhorpe”. Good clear engraving. Oval 1½” x 2”. Gristhorpe is between Scarborough and Filey and station closed 16.2.59

38.           B.R. (M) Card fold-out timetables (2).  Diesel Train Services Watford and St. Albans.  (i) 10.9.62, blue print with picture of d.m.u. (ii) 18.6.62, green print.  Opens out to 4½” x 4¾”

39.           Private Owner Wagonplate. “C & G Ayres Owners Reading”.  Oval cast-iron, slightly domed.  Pie-crust edge, 14¾” x 9¾”.  Face repainted, back totally original.

40.           L.N.E.R. Track/siding diagram. “Avenue Junction Thirsk” dated York Oct. 1934. On linen 10½” x 16”

41.           Cast-iron Builders Plate. “L.M.S. N.C.C. built Harland & Wolff Belfast 1948.” Oval 4” x 5”. Repainted over original paint.

42.           Taff Vale Railway Envelopes. (2)  (i) With embossed seal and back flap – Taff Vale Railway Company 1836 with image of goat in middle.  4” x 8⅔” marked “With the Secretary’s Compliments” on inside.  (ii) embossed “Taff Vale Railway Cardiff” on flap 3” x 5½”

43.            Shedplate 32A Norwich 1948-73. Numerals repainted a long time ago, otherwise ex loco.

44.           Enamel sign “PHONE” of L.T. origin. White on black background.       4½” x 10¼”. Generally G.C. with very minor edge chips.

45.           L.N.E.R. Booklet. “Notes for LNER Passengers” 3rd July – 24th Sept. 1939.  Cover photo of 4489 Dominion of Canada.  Streamline Topics inside by Kenneth Matthews with T/T of principle E.C.M.L. expresses and sleeping car trains.  Advert and order form for LNER Cathedral plates.  Has been folded at some time.  16 pp.

46.           Worksplate “Built by the Birmingham Railway Carriage and Wagon Co., Smethwick, England 1958. Del. No. 58”.  3” x 4”.  This is the small cab interior plate from D.5313 later 26013. New to traffic 11/1959 Hornsey, withdrawn 3/85 Haymarket, cut up by V. Berry, Leicester. Together with matching “CAB 1” brass plate, 1” x 2”. Both plates cleaned.

47.           BR (E) Menu/Wine List. The Elizabethan dark blue cover with scroll design.  Vignettes of places of interest on back cover, including Royal Border Bridge, Grantham Town Hall, Durham Cathedral, etc.  Has been folded at some time.  One or two marks on back cover.

48.           Brass Paycheck stamped “L & Y R Co” Blackburn 40”. Circular, 1¼” dia. G.C.

49.           Brass token “G.W.R. Workmen’s Club 6d”. Circular 1½”dia. Not common.

50.           Book. Railway Signalling and Communications, Installation and Maintenance, 1st Edition. Much useful information and photos. 416 pp + adverts. Some light staining in parts.

56.           L.N.W.R. Crewe Arms Hotel letter. LNWR crest in top middle; lists hotels owned by LNWR on both sides of crest with Crewe Arms Hotel below.  Dated Sept., 1922 5” x 7⅞”; two fold lines across. G.C.

57.           L & Y R Rule Book dated 1st March 1888. Good clean copy. Green cover with L & Y CoA in gold. G.

58.           L.M.S. cast-iron “D” wagon plate. “L.M.S. Standard 12 tons 8847.” Restored a long time ago.

59.           B.R. Marine Catering Department.  Luncheon Menu for s.s Isle of Guernsey  12th July 1953.  Has flag, blue background, red and white bands.  Lion over Wheel emblem in centre.  Contents of menu are typed. 5” x 7⅞” G.

60.           Glasgow & South Western Rly Steamers Fish Knife. Full name and CoA in panel on ribbed handle. 7½” long. Ornate pattern on blade. By Walker & Hall. Good used condition.

61.           British Transport Hotels Luggage Label. Caledonian Hotel Edinburgh. Round blue panel with name of hotel in white shield in gold with Scottish lion in red; unicorns both sides. Red emblem above shield with bear above. 4½” dia. G.

62.           B.T.H. Luggage Label. Manor House Hotel, Moretonhampstead. Oblong in green with hotel name in white on two lines. 6¾” x 1¼”. G.

63.           Brass paycheck “L.M. & S.R. C & W Dept., Sheffield.” 6-sided brass, embossed 331 stamped near bottom edge. 1¼”. G.

64.           Paycheck. “L & N W R Goods Broad St.” Round pewter, embossed. “1071” stamped in centre.  1⅜” dia. G.

65.           L.M.S. of Great Britain. Promotional fold-out pamphlet. Visit of The Royal Scot to the North American Continent and the Century of Progress Exposition, Chicago 1933.  Photos of the interior of the train, together with photos of main Scottish attractions – Edinburgh, Stirling, Gleneagles, etc., together with The Triumph of the Royal Scott 1933 North American Tour signed on cover by the two firemen who went on the trip. (2)

66.           G.W.R. Souvenir Booklet for the 1924 British Empire Exhibition in Wembley. 20 pp + map. Some attractive colour plates of scenery.  Some light foxing but generally good. 7½” x 5”.

68.           Cunard Steamship Co. Atlantic Service Brochure for American Tourists landing at Queenstown and Liverpool.  Photo of R.M.S. Caronia and list of ships.  Details of travel and places to see on Great Southern & Western Rly, Lancashire & Yorkshire, Midland Railway.  Many photos.  Green covers.  Generally good condition though covers slightly loose. c. 1905, 32 pp.  Interesting.

70.           G.E.R. wooden Booking Office change bowl branded underneath with Company initials. 3¼” high, 5” dia. at top. G. 

71.           G.W.R. Jigsaw Puzzle. “Locomotives Old and New.” Complete, in virtually mint condition; as is its box with its map and Literature of Locomotion booklet. Quite Rare.

72.           G.W.R. Jigsaw Puzzle. “London’s Highways.” Complete, in excellent condition; box a little worn.  A rare puzzle produced for Carter Patterson who were carriers for G.W.R.

73.           G.W.R. Jigsaw Puzzle. “Royal Route to the West.” Complete in virtually mint condition as is its box with its Literature of Locomotion booklet.

80.           B.R. (E) folding Timetable. Norwich – Dereham – King’s Lynn - Wells next the Sea. Sept. 1961 – June 1962. Green cover with photo of d.m.u. and interior on back cover. 7½” x 5”. G.

81.           Brass Paycheck stamped “Traffic Dept. 144 Brit. Rlys Normanton.” 1½” square with rounded corners.

82.           Carriage Print. “Firth of Clyde” by Frank Mason R.I. With a yacht in choppy waters with a larger steamer in the background.  Nobody captures such marine views better than Mason.  From the LNER series.  Unframed and in mint condition.

83.           Carriage Print. “King Edward Bridge, Newcastle-upon-Tyne by Kenneth Steel. A busy riverside scene with shipping staithes, tugs and barges while above, an express crosses the impressive bridge with its signal gantries. Unframed and in mint cond.

84.           Carriage Print. “Staithes, Yorkshire” by Gyrth Russell. A fine view of the picturesque fishing village with fisherman talking amongst themselves by their lobster pots.  Mint condition; in original type frame.

85.           (G.W.R.) cast-iron sign “S.W.” (Sound Whistle) 19¼” x 28¾”. Face repainted. Back original.

86.           G.W.R. Telegraphic Code Book. “G.W.R. (in full) Code to be used in despatching Telegraphic Messages in order to reduce the number of words.” 1897. Red boards with full Company CoA in garter. 128 pp. G

90.           B.R. (M) enamel notice. “Lifts not working.  Do not touch. It is dangerous to interfere in any way.” White on maroon. Some edge chipping but text unaffected. Good colour/shine. 6” x 7½”

91.           Letter headed in black block lettering “Midland Railway Chemical Laboratory Chief Mechanical Engineers Dept., Derby.” letter from the chemist to E.W. Rowley, NER. “My time is at present so much taken up with the new laboratory.” G.

92.           Book. “Recent Locomotives of the LMS Railway” by W. J. Bell, with a foreword by W.A. Stanier. Pub. Virtue & Co. N.D. 1940’s. 35 pp with photos, diagrams.

93.           Caledonian Railway enamel Signalbox nameboard. “BRECHIN” with Maker’s name. Falkirk Iron Co. in bottom right corner. Dark blue background, white lettering. Chipping mainly around centre holes but lettering unaffected. Very good colour/shine for 100 years old! 8” x 34” Brechin was a terminus station closed to passengers 5.8.52 with lines going to Edzell, Montrose and Forfar.

103.        G.W.R. 1932 booklet.  G.W.R. Sites for Works at the South Wales Docks and Plymouth.  34 pp with photographs, statistics and pull-out full colour diagrams of the ports.

104.        L.B.S.C.R. booklet. “Beautiful Brittany’s Wonderland – The Emerald Coast.”  32 pp. Green covers with photos of St. Malo, Mount St. Michael and Dinard.  In reasonable condition for its age (c. 1905). Hole in rear cover extends to four previous pages – not affecting text.

127.        L.N.E.R. or B.R. (Sc) sign. “480 ft above Sea Level”. From Glenfarg station on ex NBR line from Edinburgh to Perth via Kinross, closed in 1964. Wood with metal letters 4½” x 36” with rounded ends painted white on blue background. Glenfarg was the summit of the line after a very steep rise from Bridge of Earn.

128.        B.R. (Sc) brass label stamped “B.R. Inspector’s Office. Signal Engrs. Dept., Aberdeen.” 1¼” x 3¼”; 4 holes. Looks early B.R.

129.        Label “Great Central Railway. Passengers’ Luggage in Advance to Beaumaris via Liverpool (Cen.) and Steamer.” Salmon colour, 4” x 5”

130.        B.R. (W) “A survey of future line occupation and proposed reduction in the physical layout of routes of the Western Region.” Dec. 1961. A typescript internal document detailing all the passenger and freight lines to be closed – includes Princes Risboro – Ardley. Discusses routing S & D traffic via Fordingbridge.  Much detail on South West Colliery traffic.       23 pp. + 8 large fold-out Appendices.  An important document.

131.        Southern Railway ticket nippers stamped with Co. initials by C. Plumpton. G.C.
