totally ex lineside condition – 25” x 15”.
453* SR Bulleid brass loco HEADLAMP,
complete & in good condition having been lightly polished.
454 Set of Cast iron
Running in Board letters from “GRANTOWN-ON-SPEY”,
from either the GNSR or HR station, both of which were closed in
1965, and acquired ”East” and “West” suffixes respectively under BR.
The board was cut in two & the letters, which are 12” high, have
been removed & are on sale today except for the N which was painted
on the wood. If the purchaser would like the original wooden
backboards (83” x 25” each) they can be collected from Basingstoke.
455* BR(S) fully flanged TOTEM “LONDON ROAD
(Guildford)” , from the Guildford station on the line from
Leatherhead. Excellent colour & shine with a couple of very small
repaired chips on the edges.
456* WORKSPLATE “The English Electric Co
Ltd Vulcan Works, Newton-le-Willows, England. No 3562/D991 1965”,
from BR Class 37 Type 3 Co-Co No D6602/37302/37416, which entered
traffic at Cardiff Canton in September 1965. Rectangular chromed
brass in ex loco condition – 10” x 4½”.
457* BR(W) unflanged enamel Running in Board
“PAIGNTON” in two pieces – 86” & 77” x 36”. Good colour & shine from
the South Devon seaside station now shared by BR & the Dart Valley
Railway. Buyer collects.

CHERRYVILLE B”, from the ex Great Southern & Western Railway section
between Kildare & Carlow.
459* LNER/BR(E) departure board Enamel
plate “EXCURSION”, with reverse flanges from the departure board at
Norwich & in very good condition – 17¼” x 3”.
460 SHEDPLATE “8F” Spring Branch (Wigan)
1958-67, repainted front & back.
461* SECR Fully titled Cast iron bridge restriction
diamond. This rare sign, which is complete with all its weight
plates, has had its bottom point repaired below the bolthole & the
front restored – 50” x 32” overall.
462* South African
railways brass bi-lingual CABSIDE Numberplate 4054, which was
carried by the SAR 3’ 6” gauge GMAM class 4-8-2 + 2-8-4 Garratt
locomotive built by Henschel as Works No.28683 in 1954. In ex-loco
condition.
463 Four brass cased air pressure gauges
from the cabs of London Underground stock covering the period of its
development with markings “U.D”, “U.E.R”, “L.E.Ry” & “”L.P.T.B” all
in ex loco condition. (4)

plate “G Polkey Birmingham”. Restored to a high standard & complete
with BR(W) vessel & burner.

468* BR(Sc) fully flanged TOTEM “WHITECRAIGS”, from
the ex Caledonian station on the line from Glasgow Central to
Neilston. Slight mottling & minor chip repairs – otherwise pretty
good colour & shine.
469* BR(Sc) unflanged enamel station sign “PRIVATE”.
Unusual size with pretty good colour & shine but chips around the
screw holes – 26 ½” x 10”.

alloy key brass plated “SUDBURY/ LONG MELFORD 32”, from an ex GER
section on the line from Sudbury to Cavendish in Suffolk.
471 LNER set of
3 Cast iron platform seat ends, without the wood, in ex use
condition. Two are painted green & one black. Not Company marked but
the distinctive LNER pattern with a “bell” shape in the bottom
section – 34” tall. (3)
472 LNWR Cast iron full title 40 shilling gate notice
unrestored – 18” square.
473 LT Underground double sided enamel cab
destination board “FINCHLEY CEN/ BUSHEY HEATH” as used on Northern
Line trains – 24” x 4”.
474 GWR Silver-plated Sorbet dish & 2 handled sugar
dish, both in good condition & marked “GWR HOTELS” in roundel. (2)
475* Enamel unframed two sided Street
direction sign “Public Telegraph Office at Station”, with feathered
arrow. A number of chips particularly around two extra holes drilled
in the sign but a good deep colour & shine – 19” x 12”.
476* BR(M) half flanged TOTEM
“WELLINGBOROUGH MIDLAND ROAD”, from the ex MR main line station
between Bedford and Kettering. Good colour & shine with the usual
edge chipping only but slightly mottled.
477* SMOKEBOX NUMBERPLATE “5209”, from a
GWR 4200 Class 2-8-0T built at Swindon and allocated new to Ebbw
Junction in August 1923. Later it had a long stay at Llanelly before
a final brief move back to Ebbw Junction from where it was withdrawn
in July 1965. It was cut up at nearby Cashmores the following
October. Restored.
478* Brass single line key “GREENOCK
WEST/ GOUROCK 1” A very rare key that was used only for a short
period to control the final section of the line from Glasgow Central
to Gourock when Newton Street tunnel, between Greenock and Fort
Matilda, was temporarily singled.
479 SR Station unflanged enamel running-in board
“WANDSWORTH COMMON” in 2 pieces. A substantial item in need of
cleaning & some restoration – 2 pieces each 78” x 32”. Buyer
collects.
480 BR(W) Posterboard enamel “BRITISH RAILWAYS” with
repainted chips around the screw holes otherwise good colour & shine
– 27” x 4”.
481* Wooden double sided fingerboard “SWINDON/ DERBY”
& visa versa. These were used on containers/trolleys moving
materials between the two works. It is in original chocolate & cream
paint with metal ends – 27” x 8”.

all different with 3 relating to Bye-Laws dated 1931, with minor

484 1846 original copy of the “CORNWALL RAILWAY BILL”
of 33 pages, for the building of the Cornwall railway from Plymouth
to Falmouth & other parts of the County. A very rare & interesting
historical document.
485 SR brass cased signal repeater marked “S.Rly” in
excellent condition.
486* Southern Water Authority pictorial enamel warning
notice “Take Care do not start a FIRE”, in good condition – 21” x
15”.
487* LMS Advertising poster for Merchants Holidays day
excursion tickets from Auchinleck in 1930 to various Scottish towns.
Issued December 1929 & a bit marked but has LMS loco image at top &
is presented in a modern glazed frame – 31” x 21”.
488* BR(Sc) flanged enamel Running in
board “WICK”, from the terminus of the ex HR “Far North” line from
Inverness. Rather faded & with a number of chips – 72” x 24”. Buyer
collects.
489 LSWR brass cased steam pressure gauge from 0 –
100 pounds. Clearly marked LSWR & in excellent condition – 4”
diameter.
490* WORKSPLATE
“The English Electric Company Ltd London No 3234/D759 1962. The
Vulcan Foundry Ltd Locomotive Works, England” from BR Class 37 Type
3 Co-Co No D6805/37105/37796 allocated new to Tinsley in January
1963. This was one of the locos used in France in 1999 & on return
was put in store at Tyne yard. It awaits its future. Rectangular
chromed brass in ex loco condition – 10” x 4½”.
491* LT large enamel
one piece Underground target station sign “WOOD GREEN” from the
North London station near the end of the Piccadilly line, missing
its bronze cross frame, in generally good condition with some chips
around the screw holes – 59” x 41” overall. Buyer collects.
492* BR(S) black edged fully flanged
TOTEM “CHIPSTEAD”, from the Surrey station on the Tattenham Corner
line. A rare totem having only its second outing in auction & in
excellent condition.
493* GWR brass cased bulkhead lamp, with the twin bulb
holders, inside the convex glass, stamped “GWR”. No wiring but
complete with its special key to open the front. Unusual item – 10”
diameter.
494 MR Cast
iron boundary marker on length of rail type post with circular head
embossed “MR”. Repainted with paint peeling – 51” tall overall & top
10” diameter. Buyer collects.
495 GER 3-aspect HANDLAMP of the sliding
knob type. The lamp, which has its original brass plate “GER” & is
stamped on the top “COLTISHALL 4”, has been restored. Coltishall was
a station on the branch from Wroxham to County School and closed in
1952.
496 SHEDPLATE “70C” Guildford 1950-67.
Restored with the back ground down, presumably in service, leaving
only the outline of the usual BR(S) Eastleigh triangle.
497 BR(S) fully flanged TOTEM “FALMER” from the
Sussex University station a few miles from Brighton on the Lewes
line. A few small chip repairs & good colour but a little lacking in
shine.
498* BR(S) flanged enamel station sign “WAY OUT &
WAITING ROOM”. Good condition & a very manageable size being just
24” x 12”.

plated ticket machine & wooden box of type, both from the ex
Highland Railway station of Invergordon & in ex station condition.
500* BRB full title enamel 40/- trespass notice. White
on black in good condition with minor chipping – 15” x 12”.
501 LT Underground frieze enamel “ST
PAULS”, this is the later type
with one wide red edge band
for the Central Line,
only minor chipping & scuffing – 61” x 10”.
502* SMOKEBOX
NUMBERPLATE “5623” from GWR 5600 Class 0-6-2T built at Swindon and
allocated new in June 1925 to Cathays where it remained until
nationalisation. Its depots in BR days were Barry, Cathays,
Abercynon, Swansea East Dock & finally Radyr from where it was
withdrawn in February 1964. It was cut up at Swindon Works in May
1964. Face restored, back ex-loco condition. BR Swindon paper work
accompanies this lot.
503* LSWR untitled Cast iron signalbox
door notice in original paint, white letters on black background,
with earlier green paint showing through – 13” x 6½”.
504 BR(W) brass cased 5” diameter steam
heating pressure gauge ex 6903 Belmont Hall & a BR(W) brass cased
6” diameter duplex gauge ex 3203 both in good condition. (2)
505* LT Underground enamel frieze sign “DISTRICT/
CIRCLE”, with white letters on green background for District & black
letters on yellow background for Circle. Excellent – 60” x 6”.

the suburban station south of Birmingham. A couple of expertly
repaired chips on the K & the lower edge & slight mottling –
otherwise good colour & shine.

Lancaster BR Heysham to Belfast Service” by Claude Buckle. An
attractive view of the ship under way – larger size print in mint
condition.

the side & with brass plate “London & North Eastern Railway NEWARK”.
In excellent restored condition & complete with vessel marked
“Kerosene” & “LNER” & unmarked burner.
523 BR(W) TOTEM “GOBOWEN”, an ex GWR
station near Oswestry on the main line from Wolverhampton to
Chester. Excellent colour & shine with minor face scuffing &
chipping on the black edge.
524 BR(M) DR Poster re special trains for a football
match Brighton & Hove v Derby County on December 12th
1959, with a Pat Keeley picture of a boot & ball in the top corner.
Framed & glazed, nice item – 41” x 26”.
525* WORKSPLATE “Brush Sulzer No 444 1963”, oval
alloy, from a BR Class 47 Type 4 Co-Co No D1682/47096 which was
allocated new to Old Oak Common in October 1963 and withdrawn from
Tinsley in July 1991. Ex loco condition but a broken end has been
poorly stuck back together & this could be improved on.

cased duplex pressure gauge with needles for “Train Pipe” & “Vacuum
Chamber”, reputedly from a Bulleid Pacific at Barry. Excellent
condition - 6” diameter.
527 LNER small carpet with floral
pattern & “LNER” in entwined letters at either end. In good used
condition – 67” x 29”.
528* BR(W) fully flanged TOTEM “HENGOED LOW LEVEL”,
from the South Wales station on the Pengam to Ystrad Mynach route.
Good colour with some loss of shine & with a small hole, that had
been drilled at either end, repaired. A rare totem last in auction
in 1997.
529* LNER 1 pint silver-plated teapot
engraved “LNER”, an elegant item unrestored & standing 5” tall.
530* GWR Cast iron tip of Bridge Diamond
cut off neatly to read “Great Western Railway Paddington Station
London” & mounted on hardwood with felt base. Very attractive shelf
ornament & much more manageable than the full sign standing just 10”
tall!
531* LNER wooden Ambulance box clearly marked on top &
with many bandages, books etc inside (mainly BR) – 16” x 8” & 9”
tall.
532* A pair of SR departure board enamels “ADDLESTONE
& CHESSINGTON SOUTH” on original hardwood tumblers from the
departure board at Waterloo – 17” x 2”.
533* LBSCR carriage blind complete with top roller &
bottom fastening clip. The blind is thick fabric in a floral pattern
with “LB&SCR” in script in the centre. The makers name “ G D Peters
& Co London” is also marked. In good condition for its age – 29” x
15”.
534* Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway belted garter
crest mounted on a wooden panel. Excellent condition – 15” x 18”.
535* LT rectangular unflanged black on white enamel
sign “TICKETS”. A Garnier manufactured sign in virtually mint
condition – 24” x 6”.

cased three-position block instrument in very good unrestored
condition.
537* Caledonian
Railway Cast iron fence panel & thistle from the Princes Street
Station Hotel in Edinburgh. The fence was taken down during the war
for melting down but was not required. The panel has the “CR”
entwined initials & thistles. There is also a separate piece with 3
thistles. All unrestored – the panel is overall approx 36” x 32”.
