1*        Enamel advertising sign “Spratts puts Pussy into fine form, Spratts Cat food”, brown & black on cream with “Spratts” as a cat at one end. Minor edge chipping – 24” x 12”.

 

2*        LNER small enamel sign “Passengers should padlock rear wheels of bicycles”, with LNER in “winking eye” logo. Some rusting & nibbles at the edges which have been restored – excellent colour & shine – 12” x 9”.

 

3          SHEDPLATE “1F” Rugby 1963-65. Unrestored.

 

4*        Cast iron oval WAGONPLATE “To Carry 12 Tons Built York 1921”. Ex wagon condition with front partly restored – 8” x 5”.

 

5          Inter City HST Stainless Steel Swallow motif in near mint condition – Right facing.

 

6          SR TARGET “ASCOT”, an ex LSWR station on the line from Reading to Waterloo and the station for the famous racecourse. Multiple repairs to the face to a very high standard – surface rather flat but not an easy target to obtain.

 

7*        Single line Staff “BEDDINGTON LANE/WADDON MARSH”, from the ex LBSCR section near West Croydon.

 

8*        GWR Brass CABSIDE “1473”, from a 1400 Class 0-4-2T which entered traffic at Chippenham in April 1936 as 4800 Class No 4873 and was renumbered in November 1946. By nationalisation it was shedded at Banbury for auto coach working but from the early 1950s was officially allocated to Aylesbury as a sub-shed of Neasden. It spent a final few months at Gloucester from where it was withdrawn in August 1962 and it was cut up at Kings, Norwich in September 1963. Front restored.

 

9*        Heavy Cast iron “CORONATION CLASS” Regulator handle taken from 46225 “DUCHESS OF GLOUCESTER” when the loco was scrapped at West of Scotland Shipbreaking Co, Troon in December 1964. The handle is 25” across with curved handholds at either end & a keyed hole in the middle.  A rare item as regulator handles usually ended up on the scrap pile.

 

10*      LT enamel POSTERBOARD heading “LONDON TRANSPORT”, in the style used in the 1930’s. In virtually mint condition – 40” x 4¼”.

 

11*      Miniature Signal frame with two chromed levers & complete with the rods that emerge at the end. Attractive small item for a display being only 8” x 5” at the top.

 

12*      BR(S) fully flanged TOTEM “HAMPTON” from the ex LSWR station on the Shepperton branch. Excellent colour & shine with one repair in the top section. Only the second time in auction.

 

13        GWR wooden cased Block bell with integral tapper & cowbell shaped bell. Unrestored condition ex St Dennis box on the Newquay branch in Cornwall.

 

14        BR(W) 6” dial spring driven wall Clock with silver dial. Engraved “BR(W) on the rim & body , “4375” on the body & “BR – W  4375” on the back. In working order with key.

 

15        SECR/SR wooden cased Syx lock & block Instrument marked on the dial “34 TO BUCKLAND JUNCTION”, relating to the junction near Dover where the lines from Canterbury and Deal meet.

 

16*      Cast Iron WORKSPLATE “Built 1950 Brighton” from a (LMS) Class 4 2-6-4T. Locos built that year were Nos 42066-78 & 42096-106. Restored some time ago.

 

17        GNR steel track gauge stamped at both ends “GNR” & at one end “JEW 16/7/12”.  Overall length 61” with 2 prongs to go inside the rails.

 

18*      Cast iron D Wagon plate “Under Ministry of State Air Ministry London 20 Tons 3006”. Restored some time ago – not common.

 

19        LNWR Switching-out box for Goods Line working. The underside of the metal contact is stamped “LNW 286 TES”. In very good ex box condition & complete with its “OPEN” & “CLOSED” traffolite plates – 13” x 6” x 5” tall.

 

20        S & D Jt Cast Iron sign “ S & D J R BEWARE OF TRAINS” well restored -26” x 16½”.

 

21*      Single line alloy tablet “WENDLING/ DUNHAM 8”, an ex GER section between Dereham & Swaffham in Norfolk. The branch closed in 1968.

 

22        SECR/SR wood cased Sykes lock & block instrument marked on the dial “2. 3. 5. 6. 11. 14 AND SIDE LEVER”. Excellent restored condition with the operating lever shortened & complete with a brass padlock marked “SR” (no key).

 

23        SR Silver plated Sugar Bowl with ornate side handles & with “Southern Railway” in garter on the side. Good condition – stands 3” tall.

 

24*      SR brass description plates from a Bulleid cab. “Tender coal spray”, “Cab spray pipe”, “Rocking grate” & “Blow off cock -pull to open”. Two have been cleaned & two are ex loco. (4)

 

25        SHEDPLATE “65J” Fort William 1955-60, Stirling 1960-66, in totally ex loco condition – a scarce plate.

 

26*      BR(M) fully flanged TOTEM “MANOR ROAD”, from the Liverpool suburban station. Excellent colour & shine with only very minor face scuffs & edge rusting. A very rare totem last in auction in 1990.

 

27        French Railways Enamel sign “Danger Overhead Wires” in French. Red & black on white with an arrow flash going through it. An unusual sign in very good condition – 14” x 11”.

 

28*      LNER Thompson pattern loco whistle, as fitted to B1’s etc, complete with operating wheel & in totally ex loco condition.

 

29        LT blue on white enamel direction sign “CANTEEN”. Shaped like an arrowhead & with a circular cut out so that a small arrow could be inserted pointing the correct way. This very unusual sign, of which only the ends are flanged, is mounted on plywood – 27” x 11” overall.

 

30        NER full title poster “Issue of Tickets, Tickets will be issued at this office on application 15 minutes before the advertised time of departure of each train” dated “York, December 1912” – 15” x 10” landscape in its original glazed frame.

 

31*      Enamel sign “TELEPHONE”, double sided white on blue with some chipping around the screw holes but good colour & shine. A type of sign used on GWR stations – 22” x 9”.

 

32*      SR fully titled enamel Roof warning notice “Notice do not stand on the sheeting……..” with 6 lines of text in its original wooden frame. Red text on white in excellent condition with only a couple of small chip repairs – landscape shaped 29” x 22”.

 

33        NER 3-aspect HANDLAMP with brass plate “NER” & also stamped “NER”. The lamp is complete with its “NER” marked vessel & burner but has a piece missing from the blue glass. Otherwise a very nicely restored early lamp.

 

34        GWR silver-plated oval 2 compartment vegetable dish with clear markings “Great Western Railway Hotels” in scroll below c.o.a on top edge. Unrestored – 9” x 6” overall.

 

35        Carriage print  “Atlantic Coast Express” by Richard Ward from the Southern Region series in a modern glazed frame 22½” x 10½”.

 

36*      Carriage print  “Ocean Liner Express, Southampton Docks - London” by Richard Ward from the Southern Region series in a modern glazed frame 22½” x 10½”.

 

 37       Carriage print  “Direct Electric Services” by Richard Ward from the Southern Region series in a modern glazed frame 22½” x 10½”.

 

38        GWR Cast iron CABSIDE “3631”, from a 5700 Class 0-6-0PT which was built at Swindon and entered traffic at Leamington Spa in July 1939 where it remained until the end of 1961. It then it moved to Oxley from where it was withdrawn in July 1965 and was cut up at Birds, Long Marston in July 1965. Restored.

 

39*      Cast iron single line key token with brass plates “HOLT/ PATNEY & CHIRTON” on both faces, from the ex GWR branch through Devizes in Wiltshire that closed in 1966.

 

40*      GWR Cast iron crane plate “LOCO & CARR DEPT NO 236”, restored. – 11” x 6”.

 

41        BR(M) flanged enamel sign “CYCLING ON PLATFORM IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED”. An unusual sign, still mounted on its original wood backing, with only minor edge chips & excellent colour & shine – 24” x 12”.

 

42        BR(M) Lion over wheel gilt cap badge “INSPECTOR” in excellent condition.

 

43*      BR(Sc) flanged STREET DIRECTION SIGN “STATION AND DINING ROOMS” with “British Railways” in totem above & feathered arrow below. A very unusual sign & in excellent condition with good colour & shine & just a few minor, well executed, chip repairs – 28” x 13”.

 

44*      BR(S) Posterboard heading “BRITISH RAILWAYS”. Chipping on top edge & around bolt holes but good colour & shine – 27” x 6”.

 

45*      BR(S) black edged fully flanged TOTEM “ROWFANT”, from the closed Surrey station on the route from Three Bridges to East Grinstead. Very good condition but slightly mottled - a rare totem last in auction 1995.

 

46*      SR Wooden double sided destination fingerboard with metal reinforcement at ends “SUTTON/ BELMONT/ BANSTEAD/ EPSOM DOWNS” in ex station condition – 48” x 6”.

 

47*      LT Stainless Steel wall mounted postbox engraved “London Transport Recruitment Centre, Station Approach Marylebone Road London NW1 5LD”. The centre of the Underground target is the opening for letters. The box is 5” deep with only the face being on the outside wall. A quite modern item but very unusual – 18” x 12” overall.

 

48*      WORKSPLATE “American Locomotive Company Brooks Works 66284, January 1925” from…………………….. In totally ex loco condition – 14” x 7”.

 

49        BR(M) flanged enamel sign “WAITING ROOM”, excellent colour & shine with only a few edge chips – 24” x 18”.

 

50*      NER brake van lamp with a red bulls eye lens one side & clear on the other & with 2 side mounting brackets. The lamp has a brass plate “HULL G No 40” & is complete with vessel & burner both marked NER. A substantial lamp clearly stamped on the side 20/3/18.

 

51        GWR wooden cased lamp in/lamp out indicator with plate “7” in good original condition.

 

52        LNWR oval Cast iron BRIDGEPLATE “LNWR 47” in ex lineside condition – 18” x 11”.

 

53*      BR(E) flanged enamel sign “NO PARKING ON THIS ROADWAY CAR PARK  IN GOODS YARD”, excellent colour & shine with 4 small chips on the face – 36” x 18”.

 

54*      SR Wooden 2 sided destination fingerboard with metal reinforcement at ends “P or 06, WEST CROYDON/ NORWOOD JCT/ CRYSTAL PALACE/ VICTORIA” in ex station condition – 48” x 6”.

 

55        SHEDPLATE “67C” Ayr, 1949-66, restored some time ago.

 

56*      LT flangeless enamel DOORPLATE “BUILDING DEPT” dating from the 1950’s with the description in the underground target logo. Attractive & unusual small sign with only minor chips around the screw holes & light face scuffing – 10” x 7”.

 

57*      LSWR Preece wooden cased Block signaling instrument, church door shaped, with Home signal at the front complete with finial & enamel plate “UP LINE” & small bell on top. A magnificent instrument in excellent condition.

 

58*      SMOKEBOX numberplate “63444”, from NER ClassT2, LNER Class Q6, 0-8-0 No 2287/3444, built by Armstrong Whitworth in 1920, Works No 35. Its later sheds were Borough Gardens, Blaydon and Sunderland from where it was withdrawn in May 1965. It was cut up at M Baum, Cleveland Dockyard, Middlesbrough two months later. Restored front only with the rear having ”BR” & Loco types stamped plus “6’ 6” RADIUS” embossed.

 

59*      LT Underground carriage numberplate “4416”, red, white & blue in target shape, with minor chipping – 5 ½” x 2 ¾”.

 

60*      BR(Sc) half flanged TOTEM “LARBERT”, from the ex Caledonian station on the main line to Stirling. Good colour & shine with one well-matched repair at the top edge.

 

61*      Framed & glazed CARRIAGE PRINT “St Pancras Station, London” by Claude Buckle from the LMS Railway Architecture series. Superb early post war painting of the station with period traffic in excellent condition.

 

62*      Framed & glazed CARRIAGE PRINT in its original repainted SR frame “The  Dorset Coast Go by Train” by Langhammer from the Southern Region series. One of the more difficult to obtain in this series.

 

63        Framed & glazed CARRIAGE ADVERT in its original SR frame “This is a Train Spot”. 1960’s carriage advertising advert – slight water staining at the edges.

 

64        Framed & glazed CARRIAGE PRINT “Wolverton Viaduct” by Kenneth Steel  from the LMR Architecture series. A view of the impressive structure carrying the WCML prior to electrification.

 

65*      L&Y ceramic DOORPLATE from Manchester Victoria Station “L&Y Ry Victoria Station Manchester, Café opposite Nos 1&2 Platforms with large general smoke room and room for ladies & children” In fantastic condition with only slight surface crazing & only 11 ½” x 3” portrait. Superb item.

 

66*      Cast iron 9” x 5” WORKSPLATE “London & North Eastern Railway 4570 COWLAIRS WORKS 1918” from NBR Class B, LNER Class J37, No 9304/4570/64570. Its later sheds were Polmont, Grangemeouth and Thornton Junction from where it was withdrawn in November 1966. It was cut up at Campbells, Airdrie, three months later. Restored some time ago.

 

67        LMS booklet “The Triumph of the Royal Scot” published in 1933 giving details of the loco’s North American tour. The cover is a little fragile but has been signed by both of the firemen John Jackson & Tom Blackett – 36 pages of text & pictures from the tour.

 

68        BR(M) DR enamel POSTERBOARD heading “BRITISH RAILWAYS”. The sign has one large chip, some smaller edge chips & some light surface scratching – would restore well – 25” x 6”.

 

69        MR Cast iron sign “BEWARE OF TRAINS” nicely face restored – 22” x 15”.

 

70               Chromed single line key “MARKHAM SIDINGS/ LOW ELLERS 3”, a section of   

The freight only South Yorkshire Joint Line near Doncaster.

 

71*      Large brass injector handle from the cab Black 5 loco number 45055, in totally ex use condition with all its knocks & dents – wheel 5” diameter with extension.

 

72*      Single line Webb & Thompson train staff “CRANLEIGH/ BRAMLEY”, a section of the ex LBSCR line from Peasmarsh Junction South of Guildford to Christs Hospital.

 

73        BR(S) unflanged enamel sign “PLEASE SHOW TICKETS”. It has minor damage to the bottom corners & a couple of chips, otherwise good colour & shine – 16” x 10”.

 

74*      BR(Sc) fully flanged TOTEM “CLEGHORN”, from the ex Caledonian railway station, closed in 1965, on the West Coast Main Line between Carstairs and Carluke. Excellent colour & shine with only minor edge rusting & a very rare totem having only its second outing in auction.

 

75        SHEDPLATE “30A” Stratford, 1949-62, repainted front & back some time ago.

 

76*      LT Tramways white on red enamel timetable header “LONDON TRANSPORT”, which would have been above the timetable at a tram stop. A rare item & just 9” x 2¼”.

 

77*      GWR Cast iron CABSIDE “3813” from a 2884 Class 2-8-0 which was allocated new to Neath in September 1939. Between 1947 and 1949 it was equipped for oil burning and renumbered 4855. Its later sheds were Oxley and Croes Newydd from where it was withdrawn in July 1965. It was cut up at Birds, Morriston the following December. The plate is in totally ex loco condition as purchased by the vendor from Swindon in 1965.

 

78*      WORKSPLATE “Built 1965 Swindon”, alloy oval, 10¼”x6”, in ex loco condition. Locos built that year were BR (Class 14) Type 1 0-6-0 Nos D9525-55.

 

79        Large lamp, possibly signal, with side bracket & red bulls eye lens & topped by a carrying handle – unrestored in original red paintwork.

 

80        DR POSTER map “Great Central Railway & its connections”, showing a coloured map of the Railways of Britain with an inset map of Central England, printed by John Bartholomew & Sons in Edinburgh. Has been folded & has a couple of repaired edge tears.

 

81        BR DR POSTER “God save the Queen” by Shep printed in 1953 for the Coronation & showing the Royal c.o.a. With the message “British Railways pay their loyal tribute to her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II”. Good rolled condition.

 

82*      BR QR POSTER from the See Britain by Train series “The Palace of Holyroodhouse, Edinburgh”, in very good condition with folds.

 

83*      BR(E) QR POSTER “SS Avalon The Continent via Harwich & The Hook of Holland” by S A Walker with an impressive picture of the ferry. Good condition – with folds.

 

84        BR(NE) 1960 QR Pictorial  POSTER MAP “Northumberland & Durham” by E H Spencer , minor edge nicks only – with folds.

 

85        BR(S) POSTER QR “London Town” pictorial map showing places of interest & stations. Good condition but folded with some tape repairs to reinforce.

 

86*      SR Wooden cased signalbox Block Bell with large bell, unplated but from the Salisbury area. In very good original condition & comes with a Syx brass plunger from the same location. (2)

 

87        LNWR brass carbide tunnel workers lamp embossed in 3 places “LNWR” - in attractive restored condition.

 

88*      BR(S) fully flanged  TOTEM “SURBITON”, from the main line station south of Wimbledon. In virtually mint condition – you won’t get better.

 

89        Thames Conservancy boat general registration plates “51/33 Available until 31st December 1933” & “ 119/12 Available until 31st December 1935”. Oval black on white enamel in good condition with only minor edge loss - 3” x 4” (2)

 

90        SR Cast iron Signal lever plates from Sutton Signalbox, all embossed on the rear “SR TH&S” & with ivorine plates, except 13 which is painted on, “1 Up Main Outer Home”, “2 Up Main Inner Home”, “3 From Epsom Downs Up Outer Home”, “13 Up Branch to Carshalton Inner Home(Platform Starting) 31”, “19 Branch to Up Main Points,  “27 From Up Main Shunt”- each 9” x 3½”. (6)

 

91        SHEDPLATE “81A”, Old Oak Common in alloy. Ex loco condition with the front painted red & green paint around the rim.

 

92        BE(S) Carriage mirror showing the Southern Region Suburban services in coloured map form. A very attractive & useable item with only slight loss to the silvering – 24” x 16”. Buyer collects.

 

93        SR Bulleid brass cased pressure gauges. Both have the enamel faces that were used on the Pacifics, one reads 0 – 100 Steam & is 4” diameter & the other 20 – 250 lbs per square inch & is 7” diameter. Both in good condition. (2)

 

94*      GWR cast iron post grouping doorplate “TICKETS”, excellent condition with the face only restored –16” x 2½”

 

95*      BR(NE) Totem Posterboard heading “BRITISH RAILWAYS”, good colour & shine with well matched repairs at either end – 20½” x 6”.

 

96        MR WAGONPLATE ”Registered by the Midland Railway Company 55253 1907 To Carry 12 Tons”. Circular with side fixing lugs in ex wagon condition – 6½” diameter.

 

97        NBR full title enamel trespass notice re the NBR Act 1894. Ex lineside with some major losses but worthy of restoration – 27” x 20”.

 

98*      Brass steam loco whistle off a 1925 American Locomotive Company built Cuban 2-8-2 that was taken off when the engine was scrapped in 1998. It stands 15” tall with a 3½” diameter & comes complete with its operating lever. Lightly polished.           .                              

 

99*      GWR Cast iron CABSIDE “9641”, from a 5700 Class 0-6-0PT which entered traffic at Southall in March 1946 and remained there until July 1963. It then had brief spells at Shrewsbury, Stourbridge and Croes Newydd from where it was withdrawn in October 1966. It was cup up at Cashmores, Great Bridge in May 1967. Repainted some time ago with gold numbers & red edges.

 

100*    BR(E) fully flanged TOTEM “GREAT CHESTERFORD” from the ex GER main line station south of Cambridge. In virtually mint condition - a superb & rare totem having its first ever outing in auction.

 

101     LSWR HANDLAMP with large brass plates “Barnstaple West Box 3” and “L&SWRCo” and a smaller plate “300” on the body. Stamped “L&SWR” on the body and collar and “323” on the body. Sympathetically restored and complete with LSWR vessel, burner and red and green glasses.

 

102*    Wooden cased block instrument with brass front plate engraved “Websters Sidings” & with red lamp engraved above “Remember Tail Lamp” – unrestored. Probably relates to sidings near Pallion on the ex NER line from Sunderland to Durham.

 

103*    SR Glass lamp tablet in wooden frame “GODSTONE”, from the ex SECR station in Surrey. The undamaged glass has white letters on a green background & is in its original wooden frame – 18” x 6½”.

 

104     SHEDPLATE “9D”, Buxton 1948-63, Newton Heath 1963-68, repainted front & back.

 

105     BR DR letterpress POSTERS re refusal by the Minister of Transport in 1962 to withdraw services from the “LISKEARD/ LOOE” branch & the “St ERTH/ St IVES” branch. (2)

 

106     LNER 4 aspect fogmans HANDLAMP with brass plate “London & North Eastern Railway SWINISHEAD” & stamped “R23”. In good unrestored condition, complete with vessel & burner, but missing the amber glass. The location is mis-spelt and should read “Swineshead”, a station on the ex GNR line from Boston to Sleaford.

 

107     BR(S) carriage advert “London & Manchester Assurance Co.” featuring the Puss Moth Caterpillar in its original painted frame.

 

108*    BR(M) totem POSTERBOARD heading “BRITISH RAILWAYS”, unusually in plastic rather than enamel. Unusual item in very good used condition – 16½” x 4”.

 

109     LNER 3-aspect HANDLAMP with brass plate “London & North Eastern Railway SLUDGE PRESS HOUSE”, a location that we have been unable to pinpoint. Restored & complete with BR vessel & burner.

 

110     LT Underground double sided enamel cab destination board “WEST RUISLIP/ NEWBURY PARK”, as used on Central Line trains – 24” x 4”.

 

111*    SR enamel Station direction sign “TO TRAINS FOR CHESSINGTON SOUTH” in its original wooden frame. Good colour & shine with only minor chips – 75” x 14”. Buyer collects.

 

112     GW&LNW Jt Rys titled Cast iron forty shilling Gate notice in totally ex trackside condition – 21” x 14½”.

 

113*    WORKSPLATE “LMS BUILT 1927 CREWE”. Locos built at Crewe that year were 0-6-0 4F tender locos, LMS 4437 - 4446, BR 44437 - 44446. Crab 2-6-0 5P/4F tender locos, LMS 13036 - 13099, then 2736 - 2799, finally BR 42736 - 42799. Brass oval with restored front & elongated boltholes – 10” x 6”.

 

114*    BR(S) half flanged TOTEM “BARNES”, an ex LSWR station on the boat race section of the Thames. In excellent condition with great colour & shine.

 

115*    Brass single line key token “CALLINGTON/ GUNNISLAKE”, a section, closed in 1966, of the ex LSWR branch from Bere Alston to Callington.

 

116     Enamel circular two sided advertising sign “Pink Paraffin Delivery Service” with flange for wall mounting & in good condition with edge chips only  - 15” diameter.

 

117     BR(E) enamel DOORPLATE “LADIES”, which must have been held in a frame as there are no screw holes. Good colour & shine with minor chipping – 14” x 3”.

 

118*    Reading Tramways oval wooden tram number with gilt writing “READING CORPORATION TRAMWAYS 16”. An historic item being the number from the last tram that ran on May 20th 1939. It comes complete with a newspaper article about Reading trams, which includes a photo of Tram 16. Oval plate 6” x 4”.

 

119*    Enamel advertising sign “Spratt’s Ovals for Doggy Fitness”, yellow on blue background in excellent condition – 12” square.

 

120     Locomotive Cast iron regulator handle from an ex LBSCR K Class 2-6-0. A substantial item 40” across & shaped like a pair of horns. I expect it’s the only survivor & it comes with a picture showing a K Class cab. Buyer collects.

 

121*    Framed & glazed CARRIAGE PRINT “Lincoln” by Jack Merriott from the LNER series – a fine view with the Cathedral in the background.

 

122     Framed & glazed CARRIAGE PRINT “London, Kensington Palace” by Kenneth Steel from the LNER series.

 

123     Framed & glazed CARRIAGE PRINT “Bredon Village, Worcestershire” by  Ronald Lampitt from the LMS (C) series. A rare print of rustic village life.

 

124*    Framed & glazed Southern Railway CARRIAGE PANEL “Canterbury Cathedral” by Donald Maxwell from the SR original series. An attractive panorama of the City & Cathedral & a very rare print. Minor stains at the bottom of the mount.

 

125*    SR TARGET “GREENWICH”, from the ex SECR station between London Bridge & Woolwich. Very good colour & shine with only minor edge chip repairs.

 

126*    BR(M) flanged enamel sign “MICRO-FILM OFFICE GOODS DESPATCH”, a one off, with good colour & shine & a couple of edge chips – 44” x 10”.

 

127*    BR(S) fully flanged TOTEM “FOLKESTONE WEST”, from the ex SECR station. Excellent colour & shine with only minor edge chip repairs.

 

128     BR flanged enamel Station sign “CRICCIETH”, new image black on white with wooden backing, from the ex Cambrian station near Portmadoc. Average condition – 75” x 20”. Buyer collects.

 

129*    BR(SC) TOTEM “ELLON”, from the ex Great North of Scotland station, closed in 1965, originally the junction of the lines from Aberdeen to Fraserburgh/Peterhead & Boddam. Excellent colour & shine with a couple of minor edge chip repairs.

 

130*    SR unflanged enamel station sign “PARCELS, CLOAKROOM, REGISTERED BAGGAGE, TELEGRAMS & ENQUIRIES”. In very good condition with only a couple of small chip repairs – five signs in one!! – 48” x 12”.

 

131*    BR New image sign “BURNGULLOW”, black on white screen print on alloy – 30” x 7”. Certainly not a station sign as the station closed in 1931 but possibly a replacement signal box nameboard or ground frame plate. However, not an easy location to get anything from.

 

132*    BR(S) flanged enamel station sign “TRAINS TO LONDON” with feathered arrow. Good colour & shine with minor chips that have been poorly paint matched – 36” x 18”.

 

133     LT lollipop top BUS STOP. Cast iron frame with screw thread for post & enclosed 2 sided enamel sign “BUS STOP”, red & black on white. One or two minor chips - 13” diameter.

 

134     SHEDPLATE “1E” Bletchley, 1952-65, front repainted red some time ago.

 

135*    BR(NE) QR POSTER “Service to Industry Billingham” by Terence Cuneo – with folds, good condition.

 

136*    SR DR POSTER “Seaside Excursion Hastings St Leonards & Tunbridge Wells”, letterpress, giving times & fares, with beach scene at top & “Southern Railway May 1934” at the bottom. Mounted on thin card to preserve.

 

137     BR(M) DR POSTER map “London Midland Region” & DR Poster line diagram “London Midland, Cumberland, Westmorland & North Lancashire lines”, both in good folded condition.

 

138*    Framed & glazed David Weston Signed print “GIANTS AT CAMDEN” from his 1974 oil painting. Very atmospheric picture of engines on shed – frame 29½” x22”.

 

139*    LT bus bonnet NUMBER PANEL “RT 2389”. Gold edged black numbers on red with all fixing screws present – 29” x 6” overall with curved ends.

 

140*    BR(S) fully flanged TOTEM “ALDRINGTON HALT” from the ex LBSCR station near Brighton. Virtually mint condition – you won’t get better.

 

141     LT Underground double sided enamel cab destination board “WOODFORD/ EALING BDY” as used on Central Line trains – 24” x 4”.

 

142      Wood cased signal box switching out box with chromed plate “IN/OUT” complete with locking pin still attached. Unrestored 14” x 6” x 6” tall.

 

143*    SMOKEBOX NUMBERPLATE “9401” from a GWR 9400 Class 0-6-0PT, one of only ten of this large Class built by the GWR at Swindon, and allocated new to Old Oak Common in February 1947 for working empty coaching stock in and out of Paddington. It later moved to Reading, Shrewsbury and Worcester before a final stint as a Lickey banker at Bromsgrove from where it was withdrawn in July 1963. It was cut up at its birthplace six months later. In ex loco condition.

 

144*    SR  Fully titled Cast iron LSWR pattern sign “Passengers must cross line by Bridge”, which has had the front only restored – 25½” x 16”.

 

145     BR(E) flanged enamel Station sign “PLATFORM 2”, with feathered arrow. The face is a bit the worse for wear but is an unusual size & would restore – 24” square.

 

146*    Brass Annets key “MORRIS HILL CROSSING”, undoubtedly of GWR origin but we have been unable to pinpoint the actual location.

 

147*    GNR large enamel Posterboard Heading “GREAT NORTHERN RAILWAY”, white on red in 2 sections 38” x 12” & 40” x 12” & in a condition commensurate with its age. A rare sign. (2) Buyer collects.

 

148*    Single line Alloy key “DOVEY JUNCTION/ TOWYN”, from a scenic section of the ex Cambrian main line following the Dovey estuary to the coast.

 

149*    GWR brass CABSIDE “6681”, from a 5600 Class 0-6-2T built by Armstrong Whitworth, Works No 969 and which entered traffic at Barry in October 1928. Its later sheds included Stourbridge, St Philips Marsh and Tyseley from where it was withdrawn in October 1965. It was cut up at Cashmores, Great Bridge the following December. In totally ex loco condition.

 

150     Cast iron WORKSPLATE “BUILT 1948 HORWICH”. Locos built that year were (LMS) Class 5 4-6-0 44698 – 717 & Class 4 2-6-0 43003 – 22. Oval Cast iron in generally ex loco condition – 10½” x 6”.
