Suburban station. It has edge chip repairs and slight staining to
the white of the letters but otherwise retains a good colour and
shine. A rare target appearing for the first time in auction.
454* NBR full title enamel Trespass sign recovered from
Hassendean, a station closed in 1969 on the Waverley route. Some
restoration and discoloration but looks good for an early sign – 27”
x 20”.
455* MR wooden Signal Box name board with metal letters
”FISHPONDS” from the Midland box between Mangotsfield and Bristol.
Unrestored – 61” x 11”.

roundel and “HOTELS”, in very good condition.
479 LNER square train splitters lamp with a large hook on
the top, stamped LNER and with a brass plate “LNER ASHBURYS 19947”.
The lamp has a bullseye lens and is complete with its slide-in red
aspect and with vessel and burner - restored.

purpose HANDLAMP with triple pie crust top and a brass plate
“Manchester Sheffield & Lincolnshire Railway Cuddington for Winsford
Junction”, from a station on the ex CLC line from Chester to
Manchester. The lamp has beveled glass on 3 sides and is complete
with vessel, burner and reflector. A superb early lamp – unrestored.
483* BR(NE)15” dial Roundhead fusee Clock. Face painted BR(NE)
4427, and with 4427 scratched on the pendulum and 13.11.58 marked
on the back of the case.
484* Midland Railway Cast Iron Lamp Post and Ladder bar 14’6”
overall height in ex station condition. This item and the following

500* BR(NE) Half Flanged TOTEM “SCARBOROUGH CENTRAL”, from the
Yorkshire seaside town. This lower panel totem is a rare example
that has been enameled tangerine on the back. It is in virtually
mint condition.
501* LMS wooden leaflet rack with 4 sections labeled
“Bristol”, “Gloucester”, “Thornbury” and “Yate”. The rack is 30”
long by 15” high and lacks one glass front to a leaflet section.
502 SECR wooden guards whistle and chain. Clearly marked
“SE&CR” and in good working order.
503 GWR very early 3-aspect HANDLAMP with copper lens hood
the design being similar to Cardiff Railway handlamps. The only
marking is a stamped “212”. The lamp, which is complete with early
but unmarked vessel and burner, was obtained from a retired guard in
the Hereford area – restored.
504 MS&L Joint all brass small waiting room lamp stamped
“MS&LRY” and “STATION” with rear mounting and 3 glazed sides. No
inners – unrestored.

clearly stamped “S&DJR” and has 2 brass plates on inner and outer
“SOMERSET & DORSET JOINT RAILWAY 229”. Complete with the original
apple green glass and with LMS vessel and burner. The lamp is
exactly as found without any traces of paint – A1 lamp.
509* Cast Iron oval wagon plate “TO BE RETURNED EMPTY TO
TROWSE STATION GER”, a Norwich station closed in 1939. Restored
front and back – 9” long.

clock, face painted “BR(E) 9982” with ghost letters” W Potts & Sons
GNR Leeds 421” Ex Lincoln Parcels.
511 GWR oilcan stamped “GWR ¼ Gall” and with brass plate
“When empty return to GWR stores Swindon”. Unrestored with bung and
label and leaking slightly!
512 LMS Chromed lookouts warning horn with brass plate “LMS”,
in full working order and only 12” long.
513 GER wooden office chair with “GER” carved on the back
rail. The chair is branded underneath “GER 05 1113” and has a paper
LNER delivery label “Manningtree 02.05.46”. Good condition but quite
small standing 16” high to the seat.
514 GN&GE Joint Signal Box name board “SYKES JUNCTION” from
a box on the Lincoln to Gainsborough line, Junction for the closed
GC line to Retford. An early white on blue enamel sign in a wooden
frame. Unrestored and in need of a good clean – 96” x 12”.
515* BR(Sc) Half Flanged TOTEM “FORT WILLIAM” from the
Scottish Highlands location on the side of Loch Linnhe. The totem
has had considerable restoration to look good but must be viewed, as
a lot of enamel has been replaced.

in glass panel – unrestored.
517 Cast Iron SHEDPLATE “88J” Aberdare, front only repainted
– small loss lower right edge.
518 M&GN Joint Midland pattern Tail Lamp with top handle and
brass plate “P.W.D. HOLT. 2093”. Complete with original type vessel
and burner and with a red bullseye lens.

winking eye, both have their straps and are in very good condition.

522* Wooden Station sign with metal letters “PASSENGERS MUST
NOT CROSS THE RAILS BUT MUST GO OVER THE BRIDGE”. Unusual wording
and the company unknown although the style seems GWR. Unrestored –
65” x 18”.
523* GNR large 4-aspect double pie crust top HANDLAMP stamped
“GNR” and with brass plate “GREAT NORTHERN RAILWAY COMPANY HONINGTON
NO 3” and with steel relocation plate “DULLINGHAM”. Lacks burner and
vessel has its filler cap missing – restored.
524 Cast Iron Oval Bridge plate “L&NWR Co 17”, restored
front & back.
525 NBR Enamel Lookout armband with its original straps
marked NBR. Good condition apart from some face scratching.
526 BR(Sc) painted wooden Station direction sign “TO THE
RAILWAY STATION” with arrow from Fairlie High. The sign has both end
pieces of beading missing and has a repaired split that goes right
down the middle - 48” x 9”.
527* GCR all copper station lamp with glazed top and lamp
glass “BLACON”, a station just to the North West of Chester. In good
condition but with no internals – restored.
528 LMS large Signal lamp with red bullseye lens in cowl and
with a brass plate “LMS CANAL”, thought to refer to Paisley Canal.
Complete with interior and unrestored.
529 4 S&D Joint spanners of varying sizes. The largest 3 all
being stamped “S&DJR” and the smallest “Drain rods S.R.
GLASTONBURY”. Lengths vary from 8” – 22”.
530* BR(W) Fully Flanged Totem “NEWBURY”, from the Berkshire
racecourse town. It is excellent condition as they generally are
from this station.
531* LSWR Cast Iron Signal Box Finial. Very ornate standing
18” high and in restored condition.

date inserts. The brass is clearly marked “GER”.

537 LNER Station Hand bell clearly marked on the wooden
handle “L.N.E.R.” and overall 11” high.
538* GWR 12” dial fusee Trunk Clock with its original face
painted “G.W.R”. An ivorine plate “GWR 2547” is attached. The clock
was used at Swindon until 1928 then Paddington Goods until 1940. An
early clock.

engraved “G.W.R.”.
540 Cast Iron SHEDPLATE “89B” Brecon, front only repainted.
541* GWR Wooden painted notice from GWR offices in Devon Place
Newport, warning workers that they must not walk the line between
the offices and the station but must use the entrances onto the
Road. Stamped GWR twice onto the face - unrestored– 36” x 21”.
542* LNER leather Cash bag with brass plates “LNER” and “LNER
WHITE NOTLEY & WHITHAM”. White Notley is a station on the Witham to
Braintree line.
543 SR 3-aspect HANDLAMP with wire handles, stamped “SR” and
with a small brass plate ”E”. Complete with BR/SR vessel and burner
– restored.
544* MR copper wall lamp with paper label “DERBY” and chimney
stamped “M.R.CO”. Complete with vessel and burner – 25” tall.
545 LNER 3-aspect type HANDLAMP with bullseye lens stamped
“LNE-C 1493” and with brass plate “LNE-C 1493 GORTON”. The lamp is
partly restored, the inner lacks lenses and there is no vessel or
burner.
546 NBR 3-aspect HANDLAMP stamped “NBR” and with an oval
brass plate on top “N.B.R.”. Complete with vessel and burner –
restored.
547* Depot code 82A Yellow on green enamel from BRISTOL BATH
ROAD - 9” x 2”.
548 BR(W) Enamel sign re ensuring barrow and their handles don’t
foul lift shafts. Very good condition, rectangular – 18” x 7”.
549 Wooden Steamer Destination Board “LYNEDOCH” from
Greenock Princes Pier with the lettering ‘diamond cut’ into the
wood. The sign has metal end brackets and probably dates from 1893-4
when the pier was rebuilt by the G&SWR as a major rail/steamer
interchange. Unrestored – 44” x 8”. See lots 71,72, 262, and 550

551* GNR very ornate Cast Iron Signal box Stove with “GNR” in
entwined initials cast into the front door. The stove has many
decorative features cast into it. A very rare and desirable item but
heavy and will need to be collected from Colchester.
552* GER Platform seat with 2 Cast Iron ends with “GER”
entwined into the casting. The seat came from Ingatestone station.
Seat to be collected from Colchester. The buyer of this item will
have the option on the next lot at the same price.

557 North British Railway enamel trespass notice on original
wooden frame. An early enamel but badly faded – 27” x 20”.
558 GSWR Wooden Signal Box name board with painted letters
“FAIRLIE HIGH”, from the box on the Largs branch overlooking the
Firth of Clyde. The letters have been repainted – 49” x 10”.
559* GWR pre group large tunnel workers Flare Lamp stamped in
large letters “GWR SIGNAL DEPT FROME” Complete with lid – unrestored.
560* BR(W) Roundhead 12” dial fusee clock. The face is painted
“BR-W” and on the side is an original Ivorine plate “BR-WR 5162”.
One side door is missing and the clock has an unusually large wooden
surround to the dial making it 16” diameter overall.

RAILWAYS”. The enamel sign is mounted on a wooden backing board and
has a central crease repair to look good with excellent colour and
shine- 26” x 6” with rounded corners.

locos of Classes 81 – 86. A very popular item, in good ex loco
condition.

HIGHBRIDGE” dated August 1933 in its original glazed frame. From
Highbridge Signal box – 4” x 6”.

from the railway architecture series. Very good condition in an
original type frame.

“G.N.S.R 30” – 2” diameter 3” high.
586 GWR Signal box brass spring driven 4” faced drum clock
with its original enameled dial “GWR”. The case is stamped “5549” –
overall quite good condition with some damage to the face enamel and
the clock does not appear to be working.
587 MR general purpose HANDLAMP with glass on 3 sides and a
brass plate on top “MIDLAND RAILWAY” and complete with an LMS vessel
and burner. Carrying handle on top and fold out wire handles at the
rear – restored.
588* LBSCR Clothes Brush with “LBSCR” on the wood and picked
out in the bristles – small loss on top edge otherwise good.
589 Wooden hanging information board from Greenock Pier
“EXCURSION TRAIN FOR” which would have been used in conjunction with
the destination boards available earlier in the auction. Painted
wood on both sides with metal edges – 32” x 6”.
590 SECR wooden dibber 16” long made from the top of a fork
handle and clearly marked “SE&CR”.
591 LNER Pocket watch with “SELEX” on the enameled face and
engraved “L.N.E.R. 5446” on the rear. In good condition and full
working order.
592 GER large Cast Iron Fender with steel floor pan. Marked
GER on the fender 46” x 15”.
593 MR Large 3-aspect HANDLAMP with 2 brass plates “MIDLAND
RAILWAY 1551A” and makers plate. Complete with LMS vessel and burner

stamped “SR” and LOCO DEPT SR”, with a small plate “DIMENT” and in
brass “E”. The lamp was used by Mr Diment who was an S&D driver, and
comes complete with its SR vessel and burner - unrestored.

596* NER large wooden wall phone with boxed in mouthpiece and
separate earpiece. With an exposed bell at the top and polished
hardwood this makes a dramatic item - overall 22” high.

“LNER” and plated “WRABNESS”. Complete with LNER stamped vessel and
burner – restored.
598 LNWR large 3-aspect HANDLAMP stamped “L&NWR” and
“ARGOED ENG A14972”. Complete with LNWR stamped vessel and burner –
restored but front door catch needs attention.
599 Brown sleeping car blanket with “LMS” in pattern. Good
