76 Chad Valley for GWR JIGSAW PUZZLE “CORNISH RIVIERA EXPRESS”. The 200-piece puzzle is complete and in good condition apart from one nib missing. The green book type box is in average condition. The puzzle was made from 1927 to 1936. £12
77 SR TARGET “FREMINGTON” from the ex LSWR North Devon riverside station to the West of Barnstaple that was closed in 1965. The target has quite good shine but is rather mottled and has a small cut out at the top presumably to go around a fixed obstruction. A rare target that has not appeared in auction previously - the first item in a superb collection of items from the Barnstaple area in this auction. £1550
78 GWR Solid Silver PIN TRAY presented to Mr. W F Willis for services to the GWR during the May 1926 General Strike. Good condition engraving worn by polishing – 5” x 3½”. £50
79 BR(W) Fully Flanged TOTEM “ABERCYNON” from the ex Taff Vale Glamorgan station on the Cardiff to Merthyr line. Good colour and shine with a number of well-matched small face chips repairs and one longer repair down to the “N” where the totem has been knocked from behind. £800
80 GWR conical brass LAMP OIL JUG with brass cap. The jug has a brass plate ”GWR LAMP OIL ONLY” at the base and attached to the handle is another brass plate stamped “7400 619”. There is also a brass wick pricker in a sleeve on the side. Attractive item with a few knocks from use – stands 6” tall. £75
81 SHEDPLATE “88A” Used by the three Cardiff sheds Cathays, Canton and Radyr. Face restored only. £110
82 Brass single line KEY TOKEN “CRAIGENDORAN / GARELOCHHEAD 27” from the first single line section of the ex NBR West Highland line passing high above the shores of Gare Loch. £160
83 GWR ROYAL TRAIN NOTICE “Paddington to Kemble, Kemble to Cirencester, Cirencester to Badminton and return to Paddington on 22nd May 1946”. Sixteen-page booklet produced to inform all concerned of the changes necessary to facilitate the passing of this train carrying King George VI.  Locos involved were 5056, 5506 and 5534. Good condition. £60

87 NER/LNER style Pair of Cast Iron HANDS which presumably came from the end of wooden direction signs that had Cast Iron letters, Both point to the left so must have come from different signs. Both are 6” x 3½” overall and unrestored. (2) £55
88 GER Drivers long spout OIL CAN complete with it original cap and stamped on the top “GER”. It has taken a few knocks in its long period of service but still holds oil. Unrestored – 14” long overall. £45

98 ADVERTISING ENAMEL “1d DAILY TELEGRAPH” in red and blue on a white background. Good condition except that the ends have been folded over to the back by about ¾” at either end with resultant loss of enamel at the left hand end. An attractive sign and still displays well – 19½” x 7½”. £140
99 Alloy single line KEY TOKEN “PENWITHERS Jc / PERRANWELL” from a section on the ex GWR Cornish branch from Truro to Falmouth. Ex use condition with plenty of green paint. The key has been re engraved with Penwithers Jc. n/s
100  Stainless Steel Reflective NAMEPLATE “GRANITE CITY” ex Class 43 HST power car 43040 named at Aberdeen Station in Jun 1990 by the Lord Provost. The nameplate was removed in Jan 1996. At the day of the naming the power car on the other end, number 43041, was named “City of Discovery” at Dundee Station. Excellent condition – 27½” x 6”. £1100

107 BR Cast Iron TENDERPLATE “BR5 282 1943” from a 5000 gallon tender ex WD 2-8-0 90281 built by North British Loco Co with works number 25274 - starting life as WD 77404. Its BR days were spent at Goole, Mirfield & Wakefield. Withdrawn in June 1967, it was cut up by Cox & Danks at Wadsley Bridge by the end of the year. Face only repainted – 8” x 6”. £85
108 CRUCHLEYS Railway map of the County of BUCKINGHAM, undated but about 1855. The map folds out to 22” x 20” and shows all the Railways & Stations in the County. Good condition overall with slight browning on the folds & slight tearing where folds join. £35
109 LT unframed enamel three-piece UNDERGROUND TARGET “WATERLOO”. These signs were put up in the 1980’s and were made in three pieces with two red semi circles and a blue and white centre plate. Mint condition and a very displayable 23” x 18” overall. £260

The following four lots are colour slides taken in the 1950’s/60’s on agfacolor film and all carry the date and location. They were taken by a young photographer with a good camera and so are of acceptable quality. They are unpublished and come with copyright.

120 SMOKEBOX NUMBERPLATE “44345” from an ex LMS Class 4 (later 4F) 0-6-0 built as LMS 4345 by Kerr Stuart, with works number 4373, in 1927. Renumbered by BR 44345 it was latterly a Tebay, Barrow and Heaton Mersey engine from where it was withdrawn in December 1963 to be cut up by Looms of Spondon. The plate, which is embossed “B” on the back, has been face repainted only. £250

Printed by McCorquodale probably in the 1920’s this is the left hand half of a larger poster but is certainly most attractive in its own right. £35

Hinged above is the wooden ventilator flap with its operating knob. Excellent original condition as removed from a scrapped coach with just slight water staining on the bottom of the notice – 20” x 9” overall. £150

146 Midland & South Western Junction Railway WORKING TIMETABLE for July to September 1901.The railway worked between Cheltenham and Southampton. It folds out to 16” x 14” and is a bit creased with a tear over half the centre fold. £25
147 SR fold over card TIMETABLE OF SPECIAL TRAIN for a train that carried Queen Elizabeth plus Princess Elizabeth and Princess Margaret to Portsmouth Dockyard (Southern Railway Jetty) on 26th July 1938. The inside gives a map and details of places of interest for the journey. The notice is held between two sheets of glass to display both sides and is in good condition – 11” x 9“. £14
148 Cast Iron D WAGONPLATE “B 749679 20T Ashford 1953 Gross Weight not to exceed 32 Tons 10 Cwts”. One of a batch of only 20 tank wagons built for continental use carrying class “A” liquids. The tanks for these wagons were constructed by Hurst Nelson to be fitted at Ashford. These wagons were later transferred to Traffic Services and renumbered. Ex wagon condition. £110
149 SR TARGET “BOXHILL” from the Surrey Hills station Boxhill and West Humble. Good colour and shine with one largish well-matched face chip repair above the “LL” plus some touching in on the edges. £440
150 GWR Cast Iron CABSIDE “3816” from a 2800 Class 2-8-0 tender engine that was allocated new to Ebbw Junction in March 1940. Its BR sheds were Cardiff Canton, Banbury, Stourbridge, Tyseley, Aberdare, Neath & Severn Tunnel Junction. The loco was withdrawn in August 1965 and cut up at Birds Long Marston by the end of the year. Face restored. TBC £1050
