376 BR Cast iron SMOKEBOX NUMBERPLATE “65478” from a Great Eastern Wordsell design Class Y14 0-6-0. Its original LNER number was 7550 and was later classified Class J15.  Final sheds were Lowestoft, Ipswich and Cambridge before being withdrawn in October 1961 and cut up at Doncaster Works the following month. Repainted front and back. £550
377 GWR untitled Cast iron WARNING NOTICE “FIRE ENGINE ROUTE KEEP CLEAR”. This unrestored sign came from Swindon works and has its original brackets - 24’’ x 15’’.BTC £110
378 GWR Cast iron CABSIDE “5219” from a GWR 5200 Class 2-8-0T that started life at Neath in April 1924. At nationalization it was at Landore and then its only other shed was Llanelly. Withdrawn in December 1962 it was cut up at Hayes Bridgend in October 1963. Repainted. £480
379 BR(E) Unflanged enamel DOORPLATE “WAITING ROOM”. Good colour and shine with slight mottling and minor repaired chips around the screw holes - 18’’ x 6’’. £65
380 BR(W) Fully Flanged TOTEM “BEDMINSTER” from the station in the Southern suburbs of Bristol. Fairly good colour and shine with two repairs in the top panel and somewhat mottled.  £620
381 SR St Johns Ambulance Association Certificate and two medals awarded to John Clarke. The Certificate was presented in 1938 for saving the life a ganger who had been severely injured and the medals, both in their presentation boxes, are bronze for 7 years service in 1940 and silver for 14 years in 1947. 382 GER brass OFFICE SEAL with turned wood handle ”G.E.R.”. Stands 4’’ tall. £30
383 BR POSTER “LET US ARRANGE YOUR HOLIDAY TRAVEL” with stock colour picture of 70000 Britannia as the header. Some minor staining at the bottom, but an attractive poster supplied ready to hang in a glazed frame - 33’’ x 23’’ overall. BTC £120

388 BR(S) Fully Flanged TOTEM “SHEERNESS - ON - SEA” from the Kent station at the end of the branch from Sittingbourne. Excellent colour and shine with very minor scuffing at the edges. £840
389 GWR wooden STATION SIGN with metal letters “LADIES’ WAITING ROOM”. Offered with a rare apostrophe and in its original chocolate and cream paintwork - 51” x 16”. BTC £160

394 BR(W) Fully  Flanged TOTEM “NEWTON ABBOT” from the South Devon Junction station on the mainline to Cornwall. Excellent colour and shine with very minor face scuffing only - a good example of this sought after totem. £1550
395 Alloy NAMEPLATE “BREST” from a French electric Locomotive "406567". Built at Alsthom  it entered service in December 1974 and was named in January 1977. It spent its working life allocated to the Venissieux depot near Lyon being withdrawn in August 2004 at which point the plates were removed . Brest is a City in Brittany in North West France. The plate, which is in totally ex loco condition, is 19’’ x 24’’ overall and the makers name and lot number are cast in the back. £1100
396 Alloy diamond Diesel DEPOT PLAQUE showing Battersea Power Station signifying STEWARTS LANE DEPOT. Good condition 25’’ square - if carried it would only have been for a short while. £100

  The following two lots are Pullman table lamps that were bought from Swindon works when the coaches were being decommissioned. Both are clearly marked, from first class cars but lack their shades. They have been rewired and this should be checked before use.
 
397 Brass PULLMAN TABLE LAMP  “JUANA” from a First Class Car built for the LNER Queen of Scots but in fact went to the GWR for the London – Plymouth Ocean Liner boat train and the Torquay Pullman. The coach was later used in the Cunarder boat train and LNER Pullman trains. It was withdrawn and scrapped in 1967. £620
398 Brass PULLMAN TABLE LAMP “ISLE OF THANET” from a First Class parlour car built in Birmingham in October 1925 and initially named “LEONA”. It was immediately sold to CIWL in Italy to run on the State railway and was renamed “53”. In 1928 it returned to the UK and was rebuilt as a First Class kitchen Car being renamed “PRINCESS ELIZABETH”. In November 1950 it was rebuilt at Pullman Preston Park as a Guard Parlour and once again renamed as “ISLE OF THANET” for use on the Thanet Belle, also being allocated to the Golden Arrow. In 1965 it was used as the brake coach on Winston Churchill’s funeral train. Purchased along with Lydia by Alan Peglar for the ill-fated Flying Scotsman trip to America it remained there until being recently repatriated. What a history! This lamp, without shade, was purchased from Swindon after the funeral and before the coach was bought by Alan Peglar. £760
399 GWR and LNWR Jt titled Cast iron GATE NOTICE “GW & LNW Jt Rys NOTICE …..” warning of a forty shillings penalty for failure to close gate. Front only repainted - 21’’ x 14½’’. £75
400 LLMS brass NAMEPLATE “BAHAMAS” from a 6P “Jubilee” Class 4-6-0 “45596” built by the North British Loco Co in 1935 with works number 25154. This was one of four locos that had a double chimney fitted but the only one to keep it on until withdrawal which took place in July 1966. Initially allocated to Crewe North it later went to Huddersfield, Edge Hill Longsight, Carlisle Upperby and Stockport. Bahamas was initially preserved at the Dinting Railway Centre and is now at the Keithley and Worth Valley Railway. This ex loco plate, from the right hand side of the loco, was obtained from a prominent collector in 1980 and comes with his receipt and a picture of it on the loco. £9650

401 BR(M) Fully Flanged TOTEM “TEBAY” from the Westmoreland junction station on the line to Shap that closed in 1968. Somewhat faded and the shine has gone but edge chipping only and not easy to obtain. £1100
402 London Chatham & Dover SYKES Double Arm BLOCK INSTRUMENT. Below the repeater is an enamel plate “TO/FROM HOTHFIELD” with makers name “W.R Sykes Nunhead S.E below. This very rare early instrument with its rear mounted bell has had a Line Clear release switch added at a later date. It comes from the Ashford to Swanley line and is complete and in excellent condition - stands13’’ tall. £1050
403 DEPARTURE BOARD blue on white enamel “ST LEONARDS W MARINA” from the Departure Board at Brighton station. Excellent condition - 12’’ x 1½’’. £45
404 Alloy Single line KEY TOKEN “WHITSTONE & BRIDGERULE / HOLSWORTHY” from a section of the Cornish branch from Halwill Junction to Bude that closed in 1966. The end was cut off this key by the railway and has been neatly replaced for display £260

409 CRUCHLEYS Railway map of the County of WILTSHIRE. Dated January 1st 1855.  It folds out to 22’’ x 20’’ and shows all the Railways & Stations in the County. Good condition overall with slight browning and a small hole on the folds. £45
410 LT small enamel CARRIAGE NUMBER in TARGET form “14006”. Unusual - 4’’ x 3’’. £320
411 CAMBRIAN RAILWAY Cast iron PLATFORM LAMP with ornate and fluted post column, complete with the Sugg type copper gas lighting unit and ornate twin bar supports. The ornate post stands 78’’ above platform level with a further 17’’ base below ground level. In totally ex platform condition the lamp is to be collected from the Shropshire area. BTC £560
412 BR(M) Fully Flanged  TOTEM  “CHEDDINGTON” from the Bucks station to the South of Leighton Buzzard on the West coast main line. Good colour and shine with a chip repair at the right hand flange and some touching in of the white border. £720

422 BR(M) Fully Flanged TOTEM “HELLIFIELD” from the Yorkshire station on the Leeds to Settle line being the junction for Blackburn. Slightly faded and some loss of shine with minor edge chip repairs only. £1050
423 LMS fully titled paper CARRIAGE NOTICE “Do not throw out of the window anything that is likely to hurt men working on the line”. Paper somewhat stained with a slight loss at the bottom. Presented in its original glazed frame - 12’’ x 7½’’. £45
424 GWR Cast iron CABSIDE “4589” from a 4575 Class 2-6-2T built at Swindon in 1927 and entering traffic at Newton Abbot in March that year. Shedded in BR days at Truro, Cardiff (Cathays), Treherbert, Bristol (Bath Road), Tondu, Exeter and Plymouth (Laira). Withdrawn in September 1960 it was cut up early the following year at Swindon Works. Good condition - probably repainted some time ago. £700
425 Stainless steel REFLECTIVE NAMEPLATE “RED CROSS” from Class 43 No 43147 which was built at Crewe and entered traffic in April 1981. Named Red Cross in May 1988 by The Princess of Wales this nameplate was removed and replaced by “The Red Cross” in March 1991, a name which was then transferred to 43018 in September 1997 for Diana’s funeral. Excellent condition - 28’’ x 6’’.  £700

428 BR(W) Half Flanged TOTEM “PWLLHELI” from the Caernarvonshire terminus station on the line from Portmadoc. Good colour and shine with a few well-matched edge repairs, but unfortunately much of the bottom flange has rusted away. £520
429 SR TARGET “HAMWORTHY JUNCTION” from the Dorset station on the ex LSWR line between Poole and Dorchester. Good colour and shine, but there are some quite extensive, but well matched, repairs around the four central screw holes. Presented on a replacement wooden backing board. £760

432 LSWR / MIDLAND RAILWAY Agreement dated February 1908 for the Somerset Fullers Earth Company to build a siding between Chilcompton and Binegar on the S & D Jt railway. This file copy contains a plan, which folds out to 34’’ x 12’’, and details of the license agreement. The plan has separated on one of the folds; otherwise all parts are in good condition and are presented folded in their original cloth sleeve. £20

435 Enamel ADVERTISING SIGN for the Railway Passengers Assurance Company giving company details and listing the Station Master as their agent. Very attractive image with good colour and shine and minor chips only at the edges - 22’’ x 28’’. BTC £430

437 BR Cast iron SMOKEBOX NUMBERPLATE “48292” from a Class 8F 2-8-0 built by Beyer Peacock in 1940 with works number 6986 and initially taken over by the War Department and numbered WD406. It returned to the LMS the following year and was later shedded at Crewe South, Speke Junction, Patricroft and Heaton Mersey. Withdrawn in April 1968 it had been cut up at Drapers, Hull by August. Repainted front only some time ago £420
438 LSWR cloth bound GRADIENT MANUAL dated 1887. This interesting volume gives gradient profiles of all lines owned by the LSWR at this time, including the Somerset and Dorset. This copy was owned by a member of the Locomotive Running Dept and there are some ink annotations at the front and in the S & D Jt section so that is probably where this book was used. Good used condition with 82 pages - 6½’’ x 10’’ page size. £55

441 GWR/BR Brass CABSIDE “7904” from a 6959 Modified Hall Class 4-6-0 named “FOUNTAINS HALL” which went new to Old Oak Common in April 1949 and remained working from that shed until January 1964. It then moved around to Reading, Worcester, Bristol (Barrow Road) and Oxford from where it was withdrawn in December 1965 to be cut up at Cashmores Newport in May 1966. The plate is in pretty much ex loco condition. £2550

444 LNER three aspect piecrust top HANDLAMP with brass plate “London & North Eastern Railway CARCROFT” and the casing stamped twice “LNER”. It comes complete with its LNER marked vessel and BR(E) burner. Both glasses are intact in this attractive restored     lamp. Carcroft is a station to the North of Doncaster that closed in 1967. n/s
445 CLC oval Cast iron TUNNEL PLATE “C.L.Ry 8 CHAINS”, from Tiviot Dale Tunnel in Stockport, the Eastern mouth of which opened out into the station. The tunnel was in constant use being on the through routes from Liverpool, from Manchester Central to Sheffield via Guide Bridge, from Marple for Macclesfield Hibel Road and also the diversionary route to Buxton for the Midland main line to St. Pancras. Face restored only - 17’’ x 10’’. £120
