was cut up at Cashmores Newport in May the following year.

alloy WORKSPLATE “MANUFACTURED AT CREWE BREL LIMITED 1990” as
fitted to “Class 90” Bo-Bo’s built at Crewe, as sub contractors
for GEC, to work the West Coast main line. This one was fitted
to 90043/90143, which entered traffic at Willesden in May 1990.
The loco was named Freightliner Coatbridge at Coatbridge
Terminal in May 1996 and this name is still carried. There were
three different types of Works plates used and this is the least
common. Face only cleaned. |

frame, examples of these notices are very rare particularly from
this early period. The substantial 120’’x 12’’one-piece sign is
generally in good condition for its age with what wear there is
not affecting the lettering. The successful purchaser will be
responsible for collection from the Shropshire area. BTC |

steam in July 1967. Face repainted with a clear BR(S) Eastleigh
triangle on the back. |

LNWR Route Indicator Pegging BLOCK INSTRUMENT. The face with
needle dial is marked “STOUR VALLEY” and “CURZON STREET” and has
Ivorine plates “GRAND JUNCTION” and “DOWN LINE”. The wooden
case, which has had a small piece of the base cut off, is
stamped “L&NW Rly. A very rare instrument, almost certainly from
the Exchange Sidings at Birmingham, which was purchased from
Collectors Corner when it first opened. |

LNER oval brass 9’’ x 5’’ WORKSPLATE “LNER 4253 DONCASTER WORKS
1919”. As carried by the ex GN class J22 0-6-0, GNR604 which was
built at Doncaster as Works No 1485 in February 1919. It became
LNER Class J6 3604 from September 1925, 4253 from October 1946
and finally 64253 from August 1950. A longtime Hornsey engine,
it moved to New England in February 1960 and was withdrawn in
May 1962 being immediately cut up at Doncaster Works. Face
polished only. |

chip repairs on the top flange going slightly into the green of
the top panel. First time in auction. |

comes complete with its ornate key. |

The loco was built at the Manchester works in 1957 as number
7806 Class 20A 4-8-2 +2-8-4 and was given running number 741 for
use on the Rhodesian Railways 3’ 6” gauge lines. Front only
repainted - 10½’’ x 6½’’. |

“Britannia”4-6-2 Pacific 70023. Built at Swindon it entered
traffic in August 1951 and was named from new. After ten years
on the Western region based at Cardiff Canton it moved to
Carlisle Kingmoor in 1961 followed by spells at Rugby, Crewe,
Holyhead, Llandudno Junction and finally back to Carlisle
Kingmoor where it was withdrawn in December 1967, being cut up
by T Ward of Rotherham shortly after. Face restored only and a
very displayable 23’’ long. |

polished – 25’’ x 6’’ with remnants of blue paint around the

BR NAMEPLATE
and CABSIDE NUMBERPLATE ex “D1046 WESTERN MARQUIS”. Built at
Crewe it entered traffic at Bristol in December 1962. In
December 1975 it crashed into D1064 on shed at Laira and was so
damaged that it was condemned. After some months storage there
it arrived at Swindon and was cut up in November 1976. Both
plates are in excellent condition with original undamaged
beading with just the fronts repainted. The nameplate on this
superb set is 92’’ long (2) BTC |
