station and steamer pier that was one of the most popular
stops for passengers from Glasgow and its suburbs transferring
to paddle steamers for trips 'Doon the watter' to the many
holiday destinations on
the Clyde and the West coast of Scotland. The station closed in
1972. The front only was stripped of paint when the seatback was
obtained - 40’’ x 4¼’’. First time available. |

GWR mahogany 12” dial DROP CASE CLOCK with chain fusee movement.
The BR 24 hour dial has been overlaid with a replacement GWR
face - this could be easily removed if preferred to show the
original dial. The ivorine plate is missing but the four holes
and outline are clearly visible on the side of this attractive
clock that has been overhauled to a high standard. The clock,
which was in use at Ashburton station, is in full working order.

Cast iron SMOKEBOX NUMBERPLATE “73008” from a British Railways
Class “5” 4-6-0 built at Derby Works in 1951. Entering traffic
at Perth in July it remained there until August 1964. The rest
of its working life was at Glasgow (Corkerhill) and Aberdeen (Ferryhill).
Withdrawn in September 1965 it stayed in Scotland to be scrapped
at Motherwell Machinery & Scrap Co, Wilshaw in December. Front
possibly repainted, back still sooty. |

LMS Oval Brass WORKSPLATE “LMS BUILT 1936 CREWE” as carried by
Stanier Jubilee Class 4-6-0 45735 “COMET”. This loco was one of
only two of the class rebuilt in 1942 with larger boilers and
with its smoke deflectors it was difficult to tell that it was
not a “Royal Scot”. Final sheds were Camden, Preston, Edge
Hill, Willesden and Annesley from where it was withdrawn in
September 1964, being cut up at Cashmores Great Bridge in
January 1965. The plate, which has been stripped of paint, comes
with its BR Sales Receipt and paperwork re the non-availability
of another plate with this being offered instead. |

GWR Cast iron CABSIDE NUMBERPLATE “6147” as carried by a GWR
Class 6100 2-6-2T. The loco went new to Southall in January 1933
and was still there at nationalisation. Its latter years were
spent at Bristol St Philips Marsh, Bristol Barrow Road, Westbury
and Worcester. Withdrawn at the end of Western steam in December
1965, it was cut up at Cashmores Newport in July 1966.Totally ex
loco condition. |

BR(M) Fully Flanged TOTEM “BAKEWELL” from the Derbyshire station
on the Matlock to Buxton line which closed in 1967. Very good
colour and shine with four face drilled holes which, being post
manufacture, resulted in minor chipping which has been neatly
repainted. |

station that closed in October 1964, on the Newton Abbot to
Kingswear branch. The cream on brown enamel is in good condition
and is still mounted on it’s original bracket with clasp fixings

featuring A4 Pacifics in 1956 including 60014 Silver Link at
Princes Risborough - the other is number 5030-1 recording Class
E1 31019 on a run from Victoria to Chatham in September 1956.
Both are in their original sleeves and appear to be in good

glass and a small brass manufacturers plate on the side. The
body is stamped “GWR” and it comes complete with unmarked vessel
and BR(W) burner. The lamp, which has both its undamaged

Alloy DIESEL NAMEPLATE “COUNTY OF NORFOLK”
from a Brush built Class 47 with works number 527, which entered
traffic in 1964 as D1765. Numbered 47170 it was named in August
1979 by the Chairman of Norfolk Council. It was best remembered
as 47582. The plates were removed in May 1995 when it was
renumbered 47733 and named Eastern Star. The plate comes with a
specially commissioned alloy badge to replace the original
missing one. The plate is in totally ex-loco condition and
measures 65’’x10½’’. The badge, in the shape of a shield,
measures 9’’ x 10½’’ overall. BTC |

number 86223 “NORWICH UNION”. The locomotive was named in
December 1987 and the badge was added in May 1992 by the Norwich
Union Chairman. In 1997 a new coat of arms replaced the original
and the badge was removed. Presented in ex-loco condition
-15’’x18½’’. |

LNWR Hallmarked silver PRESENTATION TROPHY comprising of ornate
cup and cover with acorn finial. This stunning item is inscribed
“PRESENTED BY LONDON & NORTH WESTERN RAILWAY CO HOLYHEAD REGATTA
15 June 1886” below an engraving of Brittannia with trident. The
cup, which weighs 46 ozs, was purchased from the estate sale of
the Pilkington family and as it is not engraved with the winners
name may well have been won by the Pilkington Glass Company boat
at the regatta. A stunning solid silver cup that would grace any
silverware collection - stands 15’’ tall. |

WORKS No 5694 GLASGOW 1900” from a Class C 0-6-0 No 688 that
emerged from the works in July 1900. It later became SR -
A688/1688 and BR 31688. A longtime Hither Green loco it was
withdrawn from there in February 1960 to be scrapped almost
immediately at Ashford works. Front only lightly polished - 9’’
x 6½’’. |

Works the following summer.

QUEENSLAND GOVERNMENT RAILWAYS brass WORKSPLATE “WALKERS LIMITED
No 122 1910 MARYBOROUGH” from a Class PB 15 4-6-0. One of a
class of 202 locos built by Walkers Limited of Queensland
between 1899 and 1926 for the Queensland narrow gauge railways
and used for passenger and mixed traffic. An attractive plate
lightly face polished only - 12½’’ x 9½’’. |

section of the ex LSWR line from Bere Alston that has survived
the cuts as far as Gunnislake. The end was cut off this key by
the railway and has been neatly replaced for display. |

DORSET JOINT LINE TRESPASSING ON RAILWAY…….” - with nine lines
of text and dated August 1903. This is the earlier smaller
version with the spelling mistake “PROVISONS”. Excellent
condition with front only restored. The sign originated from
Blandford - 26’’ x 19’’. BTC |

GWR Cast iron CABSIDE “GWR 77” from a Rhymney Railway Class P
0-6-2T built by Hudswell Clarke in 1917, with works number 1121,
and Rhymney Railway number “31”. In 1929 the GWR rebuilt it with
a tapered boiler and renumbered it to GWR 77. Remaining shedded
at Rhymney until October 1953 it was then moved to Radyr and
within a month had been condemned. It made its final move to
Swindon before Christmas for scrapping. The plate has been
repainted in Caerphilly colours over the original paint, with
the back being left in ex loco condition. |

brass frame as carried on this Class of 4-6-2 Pacific locos that
did not have a specific badge (such as Squadrons etc). The
enamel is in excellent condition with good colour and just
slight loss of shine, and the brass surround has been lightly
polished. The badge comes with a SPITFIRE full size replica
brass nameplate, which, of course, could be the loco that it
came from. An excellent way to display a BoB set without the
usual expense. The plate is 37’’ long. BTC |
