Railwayananet Auction January 2012

Bidding Instructions & Conditions of Sale

In order to place a bid you must have registered with us.

1. Bidding by Phone
The auction lots are arranged in groups of 25 with each group preceded by the phone numbers that must be used throughout the auction to place bids on lots in that section and the final time for bidding. When phoning bids you should give your name & bidding number. When placing a bid on any lot you may leave a higher “up to” bid that will be executed as cheaply as possible subject to other bidding and reserves.

2. Bidding by Internet
Bids can be placed 24 hours a day by using the bidding form that is available with the lot description for each item in the catalogue on our web site. Please note that all bids will be acknowledged immediately to confirm receipt - please check that there are no errors. All bids will be entered at the lowest level that meets the reserve (if your bid is below the reserve it will be entered at the amount that you have bid) and, if other bids have been received that are above the reserve, is one bid above the next highest bid on that item. If your bid is higher than this it will be treated as an "up to" bid which we will execute for you when other bids come in. If your bid is exactly the same as another bid received on that item you will be informed in a separate email - the first of the two equal bids being the one that is accepted. Prices do not update automatically but each day during the bidding period between 9.0am & 9.0pm the current price of each lot will be updated on our website as bids come in so that you can see how your bids are progressing. The final results of lots 1 - 100  will be on the site at 11.30am on Monday 9th January 2012.

3. Bidding times by Phone

Tuesday January 3rd 12.0 midday to 6.0 pm
Wednesday January 4th 12.0 midday to 6.0 pm
Thursday January 5th 12.0 midday to 6.0 pm

Bids can be placed 24 hours a day.

5. Bidding Units

£2 - £30 - £2

6. Minimum Bids
At the end of the description for each lot is a minimum bid price for that lot. No bids will accepted that are less than this amount. The minimum bid is not the reserve for that lot & is just a starting price to discourage bids that will have no chance of winning the item.

8. Condition of Lots
As most of the lots will be unseen by bidders we try to describe the items in the catalogue as accurately as possible. It must be appreciated, however, that most items will have suffered wear & tear commensurate with their age. If you would like further information about any lot please phone or email as early as possible in the auction for more information. Every lot is illustrated on our website. However if you feel that an item on receipt falls short of the catalogue description we will give a full refund. Please note this only applies to items collected or posted before January 14th 2012.

9. Payment
Items being collected from Dorking before 14th January can be paid for on collection by cash or cheque as can items being collected from Stoneleigh. For all other items payment must be received by Tuesday 17th January 2012. Unless we have agreed otherwise prior to the auction all bidders who may have won a lot(s) must contact us by Thursday 12th January 2012. If no contact has been made by a successful buyer by this date, or arrangements made for payment are not followed, then the item will be offered to the underbidder without any more contact with the original buyer. Please do not bid unless you want the item and are prepared to pay for it if you win.

10. Vendors
We would like to thank the vendors that have entered items in this auction. If you have any items for future auctions please contact us on  01306 502044 or 07758 857776. For 2011/12 to celebrate 10 years of Auctions we will be charging our vendors 0% commission on all sales. The only charge will be a Lotting fee of £10 per item. Available to a worldwide audience via the website www.railwayana.net  and colour catalogues being sent out where requested, it’s an unbeatable deal for sellers.
