BR(W) Flanged enamel STATION DIRECTION SIGN “LOCKING ROAD STATION” with British Railways in totem and right facing
feathered arrow, from the terminal station built at
Weston-super-Mare in 1914 to deal with excursion traffic. The
station was closed in 1964 and the site is now a Supermarket
with just the signal box remaining. Excellent condition with
minor edge chipping only. Although the station had totems none
have so far surfaced so an opportunity to obtain an enamel from
this station - 28’’ x 13’’. |

GWR mahogany 12” dial DROP CASE CLOCK with fusee movement. The
original dial has been neatly repainted in its original style
with “GWR” on the face. The front carries an ivorine plate “GWR
375”. The clock, which is in full working order, was rescued
from a skip when the offices at Paddington were demolished to
make way for road improvements. The original key is marked “GWR”
in four separate places! A superb clock, with connections to the
GWR’s flagship station, that would grace any home. BTC |

Cast iron SMOKEBOX NUMBERPLATE “30479” from a SR M7 Class 0-4-4T
built in 1911 by the LSWR to Drummond design. Its BR life was
spent at Eastleigh from where it was withdrawn in April 1961. It
was cut up at the adjacent works the following month. The front
is pretty much ex loco the back, which has an Eastleigh
triangle, has been repainted. |

GWR Cast iron CABSIDE NUMBERPLATE “5153” as carried by a GWR
5100 Class 2-6-2T. Allocated new to Chester in March 1930 and by
nationalisation was a Tyseley engine. It was then allocated to
Newton Abbot for some years before moving on to Slough for about
a year before returning again to Newton Abbot with final short
stays at Kidderminster and Leamington. Withdrawn in November
1964, it was cut up at Birds Bynea in June 1965. The repainted
plate has been broken at some point and has two weld repairs
that are visible on the front and back. BTC |

Lancashire station to the North of Manchester. Good condition
with excellent colour and shine and just slight staining on the
white of a couple of the letters. |

GWR Cast Iron LAMP POST prominently embossed “GWR Co” and the
makers name “Hardy & Padno Ltd” around the base. The lamp was
recovered from Hawthorns Halt near the West Bromwich Albion
football ground. This was an unstaffed Halt that only opened
when Albion were playing at home and so the posts were never
connected to the gas mains but had Tilley type lamps put on top
brackets when required. The post has 6’6’’ above ground and 20’’
below and is to be collected by the winning bidder from North

Steel Electric Locomotive CABSIDE NUMBERPLATE “87 101” which was
applied to Class 87 “87101” named “Stephenson” The loco was
built in 1976 after the 35 Class 87’s (87001-87035) had been
completed and was used as a test bed for a new traction control
system. It spent a lot of time on test trains before being used
as a back up loco on the WCML, being named in October 1994 at
Crewe International ETD. In 1999 it became an EWS loco and went
into storage until 2001, eventually being scrapped for spares by
Harry Needle at Barrow Hill in February 2002. Being the only
Class 87 to have numberplates this is an opportunity not to be
missed.
The plate, which is in ex loco condition, is being sold on
behalf of EWS and comes with their Certificate of Authenticity. |

item presented in partly repainted condition with “GWR” embossed
in the alloy section of the token holder. Ideal for displaying
that prized key token - 13’’ x 34’’ overall. |

Alloy DIESEL NAMEPLATE “CITY OF WINCHESTER” and BADGE as carried
by Class 73 “73129”. Named by the Mayor of Winchester, at
Winchester Station in December 1982 as part of the twining of
the town with the Southern Region. Stored in June 2002 it was
withdrawn in January 2004 when the nameplates were removed. The
locomotive is now safe at the Gloucester & Warwickshire Railway
at Toddington. The plate measures 65’’ x 10’’ and is in ex loco
condition as is the badge which shows the coat of arms of
Winchester painted on an alloy shield with six fixing bolts on
the rear, measuring 15’’ x 17’’ overall. Attractive set and

from a Diesel Hydraulic 0-4-0 D2749. Allocated new to St
Margarets shed in February 1960 it was still in Edinburgh, at
Leith Central, when withdrawn in July 1967. The end came at
Argosy Salvage Shettleston in December the same year. Ex loco
condition – 13’’ x 5½’’. |

Small boxed ENGINEER’S DRAFTING SET once owned by George
Stephenson and presented to Mr T Wilson his friend and
colleague. These two engineers became good friends while at
University together. Made by W Elliott of London the set
comprises of ivory ruler, and five other tiny instruments. The
hinged lid has a silver plate engraved “T. Wilson” on the hinged
lid. Remarkable survivor – 4½’’ x 1¾’’ x ¾’’. |

LSWR Cast iron bridge sign, one of only two and dated 1882. It
reads “This bridge was erected by the London and South Western
Railway Co and was opened to the public in July 1882..….”. From
the Central Bridge near Terminus Station at the Docks in
Southampton. This sign, one of two originally installed for the
grand opening, was purchased from BR many years ago. The bridge
was built to replace 2 level crossings between the city centre
and the Itchen Ferry and now leads to the new toll bridge over
the River Itchen. The other identical sign is still in place on
the bridge and belongs to the City of Southampton and remains
there as part of its railway heritage. Restored to original
green with white letters and border, this substantial Cast sign
measures 60” x 24”. Buyer to collect from the Bournemouth area.

Modified Hall 4-6-0. “Wightwick Hall”. Allocated new to Hereford
at the start of British Railways and later shedded at Worcester,
Hereford again, then Gloucester. Withdrawn in June 1964 it was
soon moved to Quainton Road for preservation and is still there.

SR Bulleid Pacific NAMEPLATE “CLOVELLY” with matching WEST
COUNTRY CLASS” SCROLL from SR West Country Class 4-6-2. “34037”
built at Brighton in 1946 and numbered 21C137. Rebuilt in 1958
it was well traveled being allocated at Brighton, Ramsgate,
Plymouth Friary, Exmouth Jct, Bricklayers Arms, Bournemouth,
Eastleigh and Nine Elms. Withdrawn at the end of Southern steam
in July 1967, it was stored at Weymouth MPD before being
scrapped at Cashmores Newport in March 1968. Both the nameplate
and scroll have been attractively face restored. This lot comes
with its original BR sales document for their purchase in 1968
