151 GWR JIGSAW PUZZLE “LOST IN TRANSIT”. This 200 piece non-interlocking cardboard puzzle was made by Chad Valley and was presented to GWR staff to encourage them to take more care with parcels. Very few of them survive making it the most difficult GWR puzzle to obtain - this one is complete and in excellent condition as is its original box. £500
152 BR(W) Half Flanged TOTEM “READING GENERAL” from the Berkshire station on the ex GWR lines to the West. Good condition with excellent colour and shine, although there are some lighter patches in the brown present from the original firing. Otherwise just some minor chipping on the flanges and edges. £860
153 SR enamel DOORPLATE “LADIES ROOM” in its original alloy frame and mounted on plywood for easy display. Good colour and shine with minor face scuffing and also the frame has cracks at the top and bottom centre screw holes – 19’’ x 7’’. £80

156 Miniature steel Single line STAFF “LONGMOOR / WEAVERSDOWN JT”, from the first section out of Longmoor Camp, the terminus station on the Longmoor Military railway. The MOD closed the railway in October 1969 – 9½’’ long. £230
157 Oval Cast iron WORKSPLATE “BUILT 1953 SWINDON”. Locos built that year were 75020-4/30-6/8-49. Repainted at some point -10½’’ x 6’’. £110

LSWR enamel TRACKSIDE SIGN “L&SWR DANGER DON’T TOUCH CONDUCTOR RAILS”. A very early sign recovered from Wimbledon carriage sheds. The LSWR only had about 35 miles of electrified track in the London area so not many of these were used. Losses at all four corners caused the sign to eventually fall off. The makers name “CHROMO WOLVERHAMPTON” is on the face – 12’’ x 10’’.

160 Barry Railway fully titled enamel WARNING SIGN “BARRY RAILWAY WARNING Access to the Tips or Tip Road leading thereto is strictly Forbidden without Special Permit from the Company”. A bit rusty, with some edge losses, but still a desirable sign – 38’’ x 26’’. £75
161 SR wooden cased double line three position BLOCK INSTRUMENT with the distinctive Down Line indicator mounted above the case. Complete with commutator, brass slide and “UP LINE” and “DOWN LINE” enamel plates. Excellent condition. £200
162 BR(M) Fully Flanged TOTEM “MATLOCK BATH” from the Derbyshire station near Chesterfield. Undamaged condition with good colour and shine but with background mottling. £1450
163 LNER ornate BRASS PLATE mounted on a plywood surround for display. There is a central brass plate with “LNER” and the remainder is worked from a sheet of brass. Unusual, possibly from an early carriage or office premises – 31’’ x 9’’ overall. £140

166 A pair of trafolite INSTRUMENT PLATES for Somerset locations “YEOVIL EAST JUNCTION” and “SILKMILL”. Both undamaged - 4¾’’ x 1½’’. £75
167 Cast iron “D” WAGON PLATE “S 14 TONS 1944 LANCING 4463” from a milk tank wagon. This plate replaced the original Ministry of Transport oval owners plate when taken over by the SR after the war and had two extra holes drilled to line up with the original fixings. Front only neatly repainted. £180
168 Cast iron FINIAL with vertical mounting at the base. The ornate finial stands 43’’ tall but the top 15’’ is made of wood and is presumably a later replacement. BTC £55
169 Oval brass WORKSPLATE “PECKETT & SONS Ltd 1926 No 1722 BRISTOL” from a 0-4-0ST with works number 1722. Named “ROCKET” it spent its working life at Courtaulds Co. Ltd Coventry. When no longer required it was sold to a private collector but has since been on a long term holiday at the Telford Steam Railway with a boiler certificate which lasts to 2012. The face has been lightly polished, the back untouched – 12’’ x 8½’’. £520
170 SR TARGET “WOKING” from the ex LSWR station on the main line to the West Country and a favored spot for Bulleid loco spotting. Good colour and shine with some well-matched chip repairs particularly in the left bottom corner. The white is slightly rust stained, as is the case with many targets.  £460
171 GWR & LNWR CARD NOTICE from WOOFERTON in Shropshire giving instructions for working the ground frame and bell code details for contacting the box, dated “Shrewsbury April 7th 1902 – W Thorne Supt”. Quite good condition showing signs of its age – 14’’ x 16’’. £30

173 Alloy rectangular WORKSPLATE  “BRUSH TRACTION LOCO No 969 1991” from a Class 60 No 60058 named “John Howard” which went new to Immingham in 1991 and is currently in the EWS construction fleet. Ex loco condition – 10’’ x 6’’. £280
174 BR(W) Fully Flanged experimental black TOTEM “BOURNE END” from the Berkshire station being the Junction for the Marlow branch. As only four stations were fitted with these totems there is limited opportunity to add one to your collection. Virtually mint condition. £4050
175 INDUSTRIAL NAMEPLATE “STAGSHAW” from a Hawthorn Leslie 0-6-0ST built in 1926 with works number 3513 and sold to the NCB for use in South Durham in the Wheatley Hill Colliery.  The plate, which has a flange at the top on the back, is in pretty much ex loco condition although it may have been stripped of paint – 38’’ x 5½’’. £860

177 GWR Brass CABSIDE NUMBERPLATE “5977” from a GWR 4900 Hall Class 4-6-0 “Beckford Hall”. Allocated new to Worcester in September 1938 it was also shedded at Cardiff Canton, Hereford, Shrewsbury, Reading, Gloucester, Penzance and then Oxford. Finally withdrawn in August 1963 and after a period of storage was cut up at Cashmores Newport in April 1964. Front only restored. £1700

188 BR(M) Flanged enamel STATION DIRECTION SIGN “NEW BRIGHTON STATION” with British Railways in totem and right facing feathered arrow, from the terminus station on the banks of the Mersey opposite to Liverpool and part of the Merseyrail electrified system. 189 Alloy Single line KEY TOKEN “BAGGERIDGE/WOMBOURN” from a section of the ex GWR line between Stourbridge and Wolverhampton that closed in 1965. £300
190 TAFF VALE RAILWAY coloured map showing all the railways in the area that they operated headed “Taff Vale Railway Session 1888” and judging from the folds probably taken from a Parliamentary proposal. Attractively presented in a glazed frame – 32’’ x 29’’. BTC £50
191 NER large Webb & Thompson Single line STAFF “GARFORTH INNER JUNCTION/KIPPAX STATION” from the closed line near Castleford in Yorkshire. Good original undamaged condition with Annetts Key on the end. £340
192 BR(S) Fully Flanged TOTEM “NEWHAVEN HARBOUR” from the Sussex seaside station. This is the white-flanged version and is in virtually mint condition with just one tiny chip repair that just goes into the green of the top panel. £840
193 SHEDPLATE “83F” TRURO. The left hand bolt hole is enlarged and damaged on front and back suggesting the plate had to be modified to fit a loco. Attractively restored. £90
194 A pair of GWR “LOCOMOTIVE WHISTLES” attractively mounted on a wooden stand. The cone on one of the whistles is stamped “2291” which was a Gloucester and later Swindon allocated engine. £180
195 LT bronze framed enamel STATION SIGN “CENTRAL LINE PLATFORM 1 WESTBOUND” with feathered arrow. A heavy sign designed to fit under an arch being about 1’’ thick although the rear is blank. Good condition – 66’’ x 17’’ overall. BTC £75
196 S&DJR rectangular Cast iron mile marker plate numbered “ 42 ”, that was situated just South of Stalbridge station. This style of marker plate was only used on the Somerset & Dorset Railway. The plate was restored some time ago - 8¾’’ x 5½’’.

204 SR Fully titled STATION SIGN painted in white on a green background “DOVER Showing the Harbour, Quays, and the Town as far as Dover Priory Station. STEAMERS LEAVE DAILY FOR CALAIS SOUTHERN RAILWAY Scale 200ft to 1inch”. This is mounted in a deep wooden frame and presumably was displayed at Dover Harbour station with a paper map or possibly a relief map of the Dover area. Good condition – 25’’ x 6’’. £140

209 Brass CABSIDE NUMBERPLATE “1626” from a (GWR) 1600 Class 0-6-0PT. Withdrawn from St Blazey in August 1962, a shed it had been allocated to all it’s short working life which had commenced in August 1950. It was cut up at Cashmores Newport in August 1963. Front only neatly restored. £860
210 Alloy rectangular WORKSPLATE “BRITISH RAILWAYS ENGLISH ELECTRIC VULCAN WORKS 1965 No 3479/E325” ex Class 86 electric loco E3187/86034/86434/86634. The loco was named University of London in April 1986. The ex loco back is stamped “86034” and the front is neatly restored – 8½’’ x 6½’’. £350
211 BR Standard SMOKEBOX NUMBERPLATE “90507” from a WD Class 2-8-0 built for the Ministry of Supply by Vulcan & Co. in 1944 with works number 5143 and numbered WD 79200. Its first BR shed was Woodford Halse and later it moved to Wigan. Withdrawn in July 1963 it was cut up at Crewe Works in September of that year. Ex loco condition. £370

This is the later brass framed version with three separate enamel sections that insert into the back of the frame. Superb condition and a very displayable 24’’ x 19½’’. £620
220 SR CARRIAGE PRINT “BIDEFORD” by Hesketh Hubbard featuring the river and bridge with the smoke from a train in the distance. Pretty good used condition with slight wrinkling in the top left corner. Presented in its original glazed frame – 19’’ x 11’’. £95
221 Brass diamond WORKSPLATE “North British Locomotive Co Ltd 1943 No. 25102” from a 2-8-0 WD “90199” which was numbered WD 77231 before British Railways acquired it. A Scottish loco, it was shedded at Dunfermline, Thornton Jct, Grangemouth, Polmadie, Grangemouth and Dunfermline. Withdrawn in November 1966 it was cut up at Arnott Young, Old Kilpatrick the following May. Ex loco condition – 13’’ x 5½’’. £130

223 Oval Cast iron WORKSPLATE “BUILT 1951 SWINDON”. Locos built that year were 75000-15. Unrestored – 10½’’ x 6’’. £240
224 LSWR enamel LOCO CAB NOTICE “WARNING it is dangerous to lean out of the cab when passing stations or other structures. When necessary to lean out BE CAREFUL”. Examples from this company are difficult to find and this one came from LSWR L11 No 171, which was an oil burner and was withdrawn from Eastleigh in August 1951. The good condition sign is attractively presented on a small polished wooden board and has a picture of 30171 on a train in 1951. The plate is 8’’ x 3½’’ and the board overall is 13’’ x 8’’. £80
225 Alloy DIESEL NAMEPLATE “ROYAL MAIL” from a Class 47 number 47549 named at St Pancras Station in September 1986, by Sir Ronald Dearing the Post Office Chairman, at the relaunch of the TPO service. The plates were removed in June 1991 shortly before the locomotive was withdrawn. Stored at Crewe Works for some years it was scrapped there in July 1995. The front has been cleaned and repainted the back is ex loco. £1200
