Bidding Instructions & Conditions of Sale for our April 2008 Auction

In order to place a bid you must have registered with us.

1. Bidding by Phone
The auction lots are arranged in groups of 25 with each group preceded by the phone numbers that must be used throughout the auction to place bids on lots in that section and the final time for bidding. When phoning bids you should give your name & bidding number. When placing a bid on any lot you may leave a higher “up to” bid that will be executed as cheaply as possible subject to other bidding and reserves. You may phone to check the status of your bids up until the final selling time for each block. In the last 30 minutes of each block please keep your call as short as possible. Bids in the final 30 minutes of a bidding block can only be for items in that block.

2. Bidding by internet
Bids can be placed 24 hours a day by using the bidding form that is available with the lot description for each item in the catalogue on our web site. Please note that all bids will be acknowledged within 12 hours to confirm receipt. After 5.30 pm on the final bidding nights all bids must be made by phone. Each day during the bidding period the current price of each lot will be regularly updated on our website so that you can see how your bids are progressing. The final results of lots 1 - 225  will be on the site at 11.30am on Thursday 17th April 2008 and lots 226 - 450 will be on the site at 11.30am on Friday 18th April 2008.

8. Condition of Lots
As most of the lots will be unseen by bidders we try to describe the items in the catalogue as accurately as possible. It must be appreciated, however, that most items will have suffered wear & tear commensurate with their age. If you would like further information about any lot please phone or email as early as possible in the auction for more information. Every lot is illustrated on our website. However if you feel that an item on receipt falls short of the catalogue description we will give a full refund. Please note this only applies to items collected or posted before April 27th 2008.

9. Payment
Items being collected from Dorking before 26th April can be paid for on collection as can items being collected from Stoneleigh with payment by cash or cheque. For all other items payment must be received by Saturday 26th April. Unless we have agreed otherwise prior to the auction all bidders who may have won a lot(s) must contact us by Monday 21st April. If no contact has been made by a successful buyer by this date, or arrangements made for payment are not followed, then the item will be offered to the underbidder without any more contact with the original buyer. Please do not bid unless you want the item and are prepared to pay for it if you win.

10. Vendors

If you have any items for future auctions please contact us on  01306 502044 or 07973 409235 We charge only 5% commission (10% on items that sell below £500) and with no buyers premium or VAT we give the fairest deal of any specialist auction to buyers & sellers. Available to a worldwide audience via the website www.railwayana.net  and free colour catalogues being sent out, it’s a great deal for buyers and sellers.
