226 BR(S) SMOKEBOX NUMBERPLATE “30860” from Lord Nelson “LORD HAWKE”. Pretty much ex loco condition although the front may have been repainted some time ago. (for loco details see the previous lot). This is only the third Lord Nelson Smokebox numberplate offered in auction. £3100
227 BR(M) Fully Flanged TOTEM “ALDERLEY EDGE” from the Cheshire station to the South of Manchester. Good colour and shine with repaired flange chipping only. £810
228 LNER oval brass WORKSPLATE “LNER 69178 COWLAIRS WORKS 1923” as carried by ex-North British Class ‘A’ 0-6-2T numbered 9071by the LNER. Built at Cowlairs Works, its latter years were at Eastfield, Hamilton and Motherwell. Finally, being the last of the class in traffic, it was withdrawn in December 1962 and was cut up at its birthplace in October 1963. Ex loco condition - 9” x 5”. £220
229 SECR PASSENGER TIMETABLE for July to September 1910. The original map is in the front and there are 136 pages. It has an attractive coloured front cover and is in good condition – 8” x 12”. £40

232 GWR Cast iron STATION SIGN  “PASSENGERS ARE REQUESTED TO CROSS THE LINE BY THE BRIDGE”. A substantial sign, face restored only – 60” x 27”. BTCD £210
233 SR TARGET “MAZE HILL” from the London station South of the Thames formally known as Greenwich Maze Hill. The target, which has a number of chips – some quite large, is presented on a replacement backboard. Rare, being only the second time in auction. £180
234 GNR Cast iron Sign “BEWARE OF THE TRAINS”. This is the rounded corner version and is presented in good unrestored condition with a clear post mark – 24” x 12”. £55
235 CRUCHLEYS Railway map of the County of MONMOUTH – dated January 1st 1855. It folds out to 22” x 20” and shows all the railways and stations in the County. Good condition overall with browning on the folds. £50
236 BR(M) Fully Flanged TOTEM “WALLASEY VILLAGE” from the Cheshire station across the river from Liverpool. Pretty good colour and shine with just slight mottling and flange chipping that has been restored. £350
237 GWR ornate hard wood top frame from a MIRROR SURROUND. The top features the GWR coat of arms carved in the centre – 31” x 6” overall. £50

239 Alloy diamond DEPOT PLAQUE showing the Cooling Towers signifying TOTON DEPOT. This is the smaller 11” square version, as fitted to the Class 58’s, and is in good condition – if carried it would only have been for a short while. £280

241 GWR Cast iron CABSIDE NUMBERPLATE “4299” from a GWR 2-8-0T built at Swindon in 1921 and first allocated to Barry the following year. Sheds included Danygraig, Duffryn Yard and Newport Ebbw Junction. Withdrawn in December 1963 it was cut up at Cashmores, Newport the following April. In totally ex loco condition front and back. £810

255 GWR Cast Iron CABSIDE “7429” from a Class 7400 0-6-0PT which went new to Newport Ebbw Junction in June 1937 and finished its working life there in February 1961. By June 1961 it had been scrapped by Cohens Morriston at Swansea. Presented in ex loco condition. £620

263 Scratch built 4” gauge wood/plastic MODEL of a Hughes LMS Crab 2-6-0 Locomotive. The model, which is very detailed, is finished in grey primer. Presented on a wooden railed base and with overall dimensions of 42” x 9” x 9”. Very attractive and just needs painting.BTCD

264 BR(S) Half Flanged  TOTEM “ANDOVER JUNCTION” from the Hampshire station on the ex LSWR West Country main line to the North of Salisbury. Good colour and shine with the usual edge chipping and one small repaired chip on the middle “N”. £900
265 A pair of LMS WAGON PLATES – “1940 14 TONS 168172 LMS” and “1933 15TONS 131013 LMS” both repainted. (2) £24
266 GNR Cast iron sign “BEWARE OF TRAINS” with scalloped corners and “GNR” cast into the back. Not a common sign in ex trackside condition – 21” x 14”. £55
267 LSWR wood cased SIGNAL REPEATER showing a home signal arm. This is a rare item from one of the low-pressure pneumatic signaling installations – the first being at Grateley in 1901, then Salisbury in 1902, Staines in 1904 and then onto the Woking to Basingstoke line. The repeater, which stands 12” tall, has a bell on top and a plate “UP LOCAL” above the signal. £1150
268 SHEDPLATE “73F” Ashford. A rare code with the front only repainted some time ago and a clear BR(S) Eastleigh triangle on the back. £380
269 GWR fully titled enamel FIRE NOTICE, in red on white, giving instructions that any fire  must be reported – six lines of text. An attractive small sign, that originated from Swindon Works, in good condition apart from one face chip and some edge chipping – 11½” x 13”. £110
270 BR(W) Cast iron TENDER PLATE “BR(W) 5-313, 5000 GALLONS SWINDON”. These were fitted to the WD 2-8-0 ‘s that came to the Western Region at Nationalization. Face only restored – 8½” x 6”. £210

272 SR wooden CARRIAGE DESTINATION BOARD with destinations from Purley to London Bridge on one side in good condition and Norwood Junction to Coulsdon North on the other in poor condition. Dates from just before WW2 and was used on coaches on the Coulsdon North – London Bridge line – 24” x 21”. £55

276 GWR brass engraved SHELFPLATE “SALISBURY LINE BLOCK” from Westbury Middle Signalbox. Ex box condition with remnants of wax infill – 4¾” x 1½”. £510
277 NER volume of PLANS for railway construction during the Sessions of 1900 – 1902 for works in Yorkshire, Northumberland and Durham. A substantial and heavy bound volume, with each of the 126 pages being 30” x 21”. The covers are loose and there is some damage to the front and back pages but a useful reference work. BTC £55
278 GWR Brass CABSIDE NUMBERPLATE “5714” from a Class 5700 0-6-0PT built by the North British Locomotive Company, works number 23832 which started its working life at Newport Pill and where it remained until being withdrawn in January 1958. It was scrapped at Swindon Works by the end of March the same year. The cabside has been very attractively face restored and polished with the back ex loco. £960
279 Cambrian Railway Station PLATFORM LAMP from TRENCH HALT in Shropshire on the line between Ellesmere and Overton-on-Dee. Totally ex station undamaged condition with its original burner, vessel and glass chimney and comes with the station name on the glass. By the 1950’s this station was only occasionally opened for summer excursion traffic and it closed completely in 1962. BTC £140
280 LNER brass conical one gallon PETROL CONTAINER. Clearly stamped “LNER ROAD MOTOR DEPT ONE GALLON” it has an overflow reservoir complete with its own tap. This seems to be an official checking measure as required by weights & measures to regulate pumps for duty etc. This may well be a unique item and at 11” high with a diameter the same is an attractive item to display. £100
281 BR BROCHURE “SEASPEED” published in 1967 and giving technical details of the Hovercraft service which operated as a subsidiary of the BRB and was incorporated in 1966. Excellent condition – 16 pages. £12
282 LNWR linen backed coloured PLAN of DACRES VIADUCT on the ex Denton and Saddleworth Railways line for a massive Viaduct over the Mersey, dated 1882. Good used condition and a substantial 84” x 26” - rolled but has been folded at some point. £25

The following three lots are LSWR enamel destination signs from the Andover Junction / Exeter Central line. All are black on white enamel.

292 L&NWR 10” oak cased fusee DROP DIAL CLOCK circa 1890 with the face painted “B.R.-W.” and an ivorine plate “BR-W 4760”. A fine clock from the GWR and L&NWR joint lines (Shrewsbury and Hereford Railway) which had clocks from both companies, numbered by either company. In this case “4760” indicates that it was sent for repair to Reading in early 1951, rather than Manchester, and so the dial has been rewritten and the clock allocated a BR-W number. The clock is in good working order. £800

294 A pair of canvas SATCHELS the first being an Area Managers with brass plate “BR AREA MNGR MORPETH DOCK BIRKENHEAD” and the second a Signalman’s with embossed black writing “SATCHEL SIGNAL”. Both are well worn from use with damaged straps.

297 GWR Brass Single line TABLET “EYNSHAM / WITNEY GOODS JUNCTION 15”. A very rare tablet that dates back to the nineteenth century when the original Witney Station reverted to “Goods only” as the line was built to Fairford and the new Witney station opened. Not only are GWR tablets rare, but this one is even more so as the box was taken out of use in about 1900. Ex use condition. £1800
298 SR TARGET "LEWES" from the Sussex station near Brighton.Faded with a large chip going just into the letter "S" and edge chipping. £120
299 BR(E) SIGNAL LAMP INTERIOR with bulls eye lens, copper vent and has a plate “CAVENDISH”, an ex GER  Suffolk station, soldered on the top -– stands 12” tall. £45
300 GWR LOCOMOTIVE NAMEPLATE “COUNTY OF OXFORD” from a GWR County Class 4-6-0 number 1023.  This is the right hand plate, which has its fully lined backplate attached. The loco was built at Swindon in 1946 and allocated new to Laira in January 1947. It then spent periods at Truro, Exeter, Swindon and Shrewsbury, finally being withdrawn in March 1963 and met the cutters torch at its birthplace in August of that year. Face restored only and certainly one of the most desirable County names. BTC £24650
