151 MR Silver-plated MILK JUG with “MIDLAND HOTEL DERBY” engraved in garter on the side. The engraving is a bit worn and there are a couple of small dents from use, but overall a very presentable item – stands 3¾” tall. £25
152 BR(M) Fully Flanged TOTEM “HEMEL HEMPSTEAD & BOXMOOR” from the Hertfordshire station to the West of St Albans. Excellent colour and shine with a couple of tiny face chips and minor flange chipping only. £1150

155 LMS 12” fusee SQUARE HEAD Art Deco style CLOCK ex Wirral Railways from the Booking Hall at Moreton in Cheshire (confirmed by the records at York). Made by Joyce of Whitchurch it has the number 14448 on the face and the movement. Very unusual, recently cleaned, and in full working order. £870
156 Rectangular black on white convex enamel CARRIAGE SIGN with “English Travellers are requested to have FRENCH MONEY before getting on the Carriage, The Carman being not obliged to make change” on the right hand side and the French equivalent on the left. Edge chipping and the letters a little worn on this unusual sign – 13” x 5”. £35

158 Steel Single line KEY TOKEN with plate “BRORA / HELMSDALE” from a section of the ex Highland Railway line to Wick. £110
159 BR(NE) Flanged enamel STATION SIGN “BRITISH RAILWAYS FOOTPATH FOR PEDESTRIANS ONLY ……….PENALTY 40/-” with eight lines of text listing such banned items as Tricycles . Unusual in that being a BR sign it refers back to the LNER, which by now was defunct. Pretty good colour & shine with a number of chip repairs on the face – 24” square. £150
160 LNWR coloured DRAWING, on thick paper, of the proposed station at OLD BESCOT on the line between Birmingham and Wolverhampton dated December 1880 with signatures in 1890. Old Bescot has been lightly crossed out in the title and replaced with Wood Green - demolished 1948 noted after. Good condition for its age – 38” x 20” rolled. £40

162 BR(Sc) Half Flanged TOTEM “HAYMARKET” from the Midlothian station in the Edinburgh suburbs. Good colour with a couple of small well matched chip repairs and then varnished to look very presentable. £760
163 Oval brass WORKSPLATE ”Electrical Equipment by METROPOLITAN VICKERS Manchester & Sheffield England” from the famous Class 77 electrics which worked the Sheffield-Manchester line (Woodhead Tunnel) over the Pennines. On one end of the loco was the Gorton worksplate with the Metropolitan at the other. All seven of the class were withdrawn in September 1968. In totally ex loco condition – 12” x 6”. £460

167 GWR Silver plated BREAD / ROLL BASKET with “GREAT WESTERN RAILWAY HOTELS” in garter below the company badge on the side. Made by Walker and Hall and in good used condition – 13” long and 6” wide in the centre with ends raised up to 4”. £130
168 LNER dark blue Flanged enamel STATION DIRECTION SIGN “LNER (in winking eye) STATION” with feathered arrow. This is the same size and pattern as the BR version and so it is possible that it formed the basis for the later design. Good colour and shine with minor flange chip repairs and some discoloration of the white - 21” x 10½”. A very rare sign. £970
169 Webb & Thompson SINGLE LINE STAFF bearing a cast brass plate “VICTORIA BRIDGE” and a stamped plate “NEWTOWN STEWART”, a section from the Strabane to Omagh line in Southern Ireland. Good ex use condition with the rings intact – 23” long. £230
170 CALEDONIAN PASSENGER TIMETABLE for July 1911 until further notice. It comes with its original map in the back and has 170 pages. The back cover is loose but the contents are complete and in good order – 8” x 12”. £170
171 BR(S) SMOKEBOX NUMBERPLATE “34091” ex West Country Class “Weymouth”. Built at Brighton in 1949 and a long time Stewarts Lane locomotive before going West to Salisbury in 1961. Withdrawn from that shed in September 1964 it then returned to the South East to be cut up at Woods in Queensborough Kent early in 1965. The plate is in totally ex loco condition and has a clear Eastleigh triangle on the back. £3250
172 Alloy Single line KEY TOKEN “PENRHYNDEUDRAETH / PORTMAOC” from a section of the ex Cambrian line to Pwllheli. £150
173 LNER oval Brass WORKSPLATE  “L&NER 4921 1936” as carried by ex-LNER Class J39 0-6-0 Tender engine built at Beyer Peacock Works number 6818, entering traffic in November 1936 as LNER 1544. Given BR number 64921 Its final years were spent at Neville Hill, Borough Gardens, Gateshead and Heaton. Withdrawn in December 1962 it was cut up at Darlington Works in June 1963.Face only repainted. £140
174 BR(M) Fully Flanged TOTEM “MATLOCK BATH” from the Derbyshire Peak District station, between Cromford and Matlock on the Derby – Manchester line. Good colour and shine with minor edge chipping only. £1800
175 Alloy NAMEPLATE “MAIL” from Class 86 loco E3162/86226 built by English Electric Co. with works number 3454/E300 in 1966. Nameplates were fitted at Willesden in July 1979 and were removed in January 1985. It was named after a Liverpool & Manchester loco, the name a favourite for the earlier horse drawn stagecoach services. The plate, which is in good ex loco condition, is mounted on board with its BR English Electric Co alloy WORKSPLATE and an alloy DOUBLE ARROWS emblem. The plate is 26” x 10” and the overall size of the blue painted backing board is 50” x 20”. BTC

189 LNER brass 9” x 5” worksplate NUMBER STRIP “69873” from a Class “A8” 4-6-2T. Rebuilt by the LNER in 1935 from Ravens North Eastern Class “H1” numbered 1520 it became 9873 and finally 69873. Latterly shedded at Botanic Gardens, Middlesborough, West Hartlepool, Durham and Sunderland.  Finally withdrawn in February 1960 and immediately cut up at Darlington Works. Ex loco condition. £110

Good colour & shine with a couple of well-matched edge chip repairs one of which just goes onto the green. The image is by Graham Phillips and is dated “13” which would seem to date this extremely rare poster. There have been some losses on the edges plus slight trimming and as the poster was very fragile it has been mounted on card to protect it. Would be improved by framing. BTC £330

211 BR Cast iron SMOKEBOX NUMBERPLATE “75005” from a British Railways Class ‘4’ 4-6-0 built at Swindon in 1951 and first allocated to Shrewsbury. Well travelled, its other sheds were Bristol St Philips Marsh, Cardiff Canton, Oswestry, Chester(GW), Tyseley, Worcester, Gloucester, Exmouth, Yeovil and Worcester again. Finally withdrawn in November 1965 it was cut up at Morrisons, Swansea in February 1966. Excellent ex loco condition. £1400
212 BR(S) Fully Flanged TOTEM “WIMBLEDON CHASE” from the South London station on the line to Staines. Good colour and shine with no damage but the white has become slightly pink as happened to a few Southern totems. Not the one for sale recently -. this is your best chance of obtaining a totem with Wimbledon on it. £860

222 Brass Single line KEY TOKEN “HALWILL / HOLSWORTHY 19” - a section from the ex LSWR Cornish branch to Bude. The key end has been removed by BR as happened to all keys from this section. £120
223 Oval Cast iron WORKSPLATE “BUILT 1952 SWINDON”. Locos built that year were 75016-9 and 82000-19. Unrestored. £160
224 CARRIAGE PRINT “WIDECOMBE IN THE MOOR near ASHBURTON DEVON” by Jack Merriott. The print has been mounted on board and has had the borders reduced but rare and difficult to find any example. Presented In an original type glazed frame– 19½” x 9½”. £80
225 SR brass NAMEPLATE “LORD HAWKE”. from a Lord Nelson Class loco number “860” built with an experimental boiler in 1929 at Eastleigh. These locomotives were required for boat trains on both the Eastern and Western sections of the Southern Railway. In BR days it was renumbered 30860 and was allocated to the Western section, spending most of its life at Nine Elms with final visits to Bournemouth and Eastleigh. Withdrawn in August 1962 it was cut up at its birthplace the same month. The plate, which was skimmed by the railway before its original sale, has been restored on the front only. This is a rare opportunity to obtain a plate from a small Class of just sixteen. (Lord Hawke became Admiral of the fleet in 1766).The Smokebox numberplate for this loco is available as lot 226.
